angela1 Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Can anyone help ID these two hotels:4.5* Fitness, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet ($309)4* Smoke free rooms, fitness, restaurant, business centre, high speed internet ($356)Thank you.
AaronJB Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Welcome to the site. :)Personally, and others can weigh in with their thoughts on this as well, I'd rather recommend booking something refundable in order to give you the flexibility of taking advantage of other possible deals that may arise between now and these dates - and in terms of hotel time - there's a lot of time between now and these dates. Additionally, if the travel industry remains soft into 2009, there may be more than a few deals to be had. If no additional deals of interest appear (although I think it's more likely that there will be deals), then at least you would have something already set.Personally, I'd rather recommend something like the Morgans Hotel ($355, Orbitz.com - use the coupon code FABSAVE10 for 10% off - $319.50), which would get you free breakfast. The Flatotel is $339 on Orbitz (use coupon code FABSAVE10 for 10% off = $305.10), Dream Hotel ($309 - FABSAVE10 coupon for 10% off) or Hudson ($299 - FABSAVE10 for 10% off)You would have to pay a cancel fee, but you would also be using the coupon for 10% off and if a better deal came along, the cancel fee may be worth having that flexibility. In terms of HOTWIRE, the 4.5 * MTC you are seeing would appear to be the Royalton and the 4* likely the Sheraton NY & Towers.Overall, I'd recommend consideration of one of the Orbitz ideas instead. If you go with the Orbitz ideas, please double check the terms regarding cancellation for the particular hotel, which should be presented during booking. If you are interested in one of the Orbitz.com ideas, it would be greatly appreciated if you could click on the site's link to Orbitz.com (click the Orbitz.com) or if you are interested in the HOTWIRE listings, click the site's link to HOTWIRE. Let us know if you have any questions and let us know what you do decide upon, so we can change the thread title to reflect the results. Thank you.
angela1 Posted November 2, 2008 Author Report Posted November 2, 2008 I have a reserved refundable room at the Parker Meridian, although it is expensive at $450. This is my first choice hotel, but I am trying to find it at a lower cost. I know the amenities differed from the Betterbidding guide, but I wasn't sure if they had changed and one of these hotels could have been the Parker Meridian. Thank you for confirming they are not.
AaronJB Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 Well, if you use coupon code FABSAVE10 on Orbitz.com, you get 10% off Orbitz's rate of $459 and change. While still expensive, at least that brings the total per night down to about $415.If this is of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to Orbitz.com (click the Orbitz.com) to book.
thereuare Posted November 2, 2008 Report Posted November 2, 2008 I agree with AaronJB... i wouldn't be locking in a $300+ non-refundable reservation this far ahead of your stay. This isn't usually such an expensive time of year in NYC, do you know if there some event taking place during your stay that would effect hotel demand this far in advance? (college gradulations or somee conference??)I'd also check qucikbook where most of their rates are cancellable (those which are not are clearly marked as such) and while i don't know what it is about the Le Meriedien that makes you want that hotel, there are some very nice hotels at Quickbook for $350 and under for your dates. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
