Hi,

After a couple of weeks going between Expedia, Hotwire , Priceline UK (rejected) and many other sites I found this.(brill!)

I will be coming over to watch the boxing at MSG, which is taking place on the 8th Nov

I will be arriving on the 6 Nov and returning on the 11 Nov 08( Afghan on the 15th). There will be two of us.

Can somebody help with a plan for priceline, it would need to be 3* and above. I bidded

Welcome to BetterBidding!

What is your maximum bid for this stay? Do you want to try for a higher rated hotel first up to your limit or is your goal the least expensive 3* or better hotel for this stay. Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option?

As well, exactly which zones, by PRICELINE name, did you include in your bidding (did you also include Brooklyn and the other zones outside of the island of Manhattan)

Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.

Let us know the aboev and we'll be in a better position to begin to look at this stay and advise accordingly.

Hello,

Thanks for your time.

I would be looking for a limit of $200. At the moment I have gone up to $150 for all hotels around the centre excluding Brooklyn (seen the films) , Long Island and Upper West and East.

I've tried splitting the trip down, but had no joy. I am currently locked out and will up my bid later.

I started with 4* and dropped down to 3*, so I got more chances before getting locked out. I based my starting fee on the Calender of Wins above.

Thanks

How about this:

Search on Hotwire for 11/6-10, and there should be a 4* in Midtown Central for $182 (the price you see may vary slightly) with the amenities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed internet, Business Center, Spa. This would likely be the Le Parker Meridien NYC.

Over what you've been bidding, but under your max and you'd be at a 4* in a very nice location.

The other option if you wanted to be in 2 different areas:

Search on Hotwire for 11/6-8, and there should be a 4* in Midtown Central for $189 (the price you see may vary slightly) with the amenities: Restaurant, Fitness Center, Hi-Speed internet, Business Center, Spa. This would likely be the Le Parker Meridien NYC.

Search on Hotwire for 11/8-10, and there should be a 4* in Empire State Buildingl for $189 (the price you see may vary slightly) with the amenities: Boutique, Fitness, Business, Smoke Free. While not an exact match for the reported amenities with 70 Park Avenue, I'm still guessing that this may be that property, as the tripadvisor rating on the detail page is a match.

While this would require a switch of hotels, transferring to a hotel near the Empire State Building on the 8th would put you closer to MSG than if you were at the Le Parker Meridien on this date.

If you are interested in either of these ideas, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE (click the HOTWIRE) to start your purchase.

Great News!

It's in the Bag

6-8 Nov - CPS - Bidded $160 excepted for Le Parker

I was given the option to extend for a further 2 nights, excepted for the same price

10- 11 Nov - Bidded for Le Parker again, but they were not having it. Got Millenium Hilton Downtown for $160.

Splitting the break, helped with booking my 5 day stay. Originally i had been going for one hotel for the duration

Is this a good deal? I'm happy.

Do I need to put it anywhere else??

Thanks for all your help and I will book here from now on

Rgds :) :)

In terms of good deal, the Le Parker Meridien's lowest rate on their website is $409 per night for 11/6-10, so I'd definitely say it was a VERY good deal.

The lowest rate for the Hilton on 11/10 is $439 so again, awesome deal! :)

Thank you for reporting your win! :-)

Thanks Aaron,

More than happy with that. I have also been offered a 15% cashback to $50 through Priceline (great Fun, i think it's called) is there a catch with this?

It states to cancel within a month, so you don't get billed $11 a Month.

Congratulations on your win!

Thank you for sharing your results with th board.

Can you please start a NEW TOPIC for your second purchase of the Millenium Hilton Downtown so that each can have its own thread and appear in the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins.

In regards to "Great Fun", most of these companies do NOT have a good reputation, cancelling the membership can often be difficult and come with a lot of selling pressure. Personally i wouldn't take advantage of it as i dont' have the time to keep track of cancellation timeframes, when the check will come, etc, etc.
