thereuare Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Glad to see that you're happy with the results. You actually could have improved your bidding a bit, usnig yoru re-bid zones and closing the browser and various times (if a 4* hotel was available for less in the CPS zone you didn't have a chance to get it cheaper since this was your first bid in that zone) Feel free to ask for help or confirm your strategy before bidding for your next stay.Thank you for sharing your win with the board and using our PRICELINE links to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. E&E Company Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 Ah ... you're so very right! I learn best by making mistakes but I'm comfortable with this one! Thanks all.
E&E Company Posted November 7, 2008 Author Report Posted November 7, 2008 Just wanted to update ... we're at the hotel now. I don't consider this a 4 star hotel at all and am very disappointed in our room. Our sheets and pillowcases are so thoroughly worn that they're torn. I've taken pictures and will post on my Tripadvisor review when I'm back. Also, the bathroom smells foul and of mildew or mold. And lastly ... the duct work behind the ceiling or walls are rattling and it is not conducive at all to enjoying peace and quiet.
thereuare Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Have you tried speaking with the manager regarding these issues and given them a chance to resolve them? Please also post your pics at our sister site Real Hotel Photos.comThanks. E&E Company Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 Thanks ... will do when I have a chance.I did speak to a fellow at about 11:30 pm after we arrived from an evening out watching Spring Awakening. He indicated that room service would be up shortly to change the shower curtain. I then went to the Business Centre to do some work and after over an hour there, I called my wife to see if anyone had come up to change the shower curtain. No.So I went to the front desk to indicate nothing had been done and the same guy I had been talking to asked an elderly woman who must have been the manager on duty if housekeeping was working at this hour and she scoffed at him indicating that there's no way housekeeping would be available. She then dealt with me directly and upgraded us to the exact same room on the 35th floor (we were on the 22nd). MUCH better view and NO smell and NO rattles from the HVAC ductwork. But the sheets still had tears in them. I could live with the holes. All in all ... at BEST this is a 3.5 * hotel.
AaronJB Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 I would definitely recommend that you write parent company Starwood via their website with a list of complaints/criticisms. I wouldn't necessarily expect to get anything, but I have to say that Starwood has been very responsive when I've had subpar stays in the past.
