muddy waters Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Greetings all,I am about to search for a hotel in NYC for the weekend of Nov. 14. I currently have booked a refundable room at the Roosevelt for $215 a night. This will be my first attempt at using re-bid zones. I posted once before about a trip to Boston but never was able to go. I wanted to make sure I have this down before I begin. Of course, I will use your link to PRICELINE.Here are the details that are pertinent to my trip:I am meeting up with my brother and his wife who has booked a room at the Crowne Plaza in Times Square for Friday and Saturday. We would like to stay someplace reasonably close to him, but Times Square zone is not necessary. In other words, downtown is not a good option. We will probably stay at the Roosevelt on that Sunday the 17th since my brother and his wife don't have a room on Sunday night and that room can sleep 4 if we pay $100 extra. We would like a 4 star but are willing to go down to a 3 star with a limit of 200 per night, not including taxes. The rebid zones for a 4 star are Brooklyn, Chelsea, Long Island City, Madison Square Garden and the Upper East Side, correct? If I go down to a 3 star I can only use Long Island City, correct? Thanks again for any help on a bidding startegy that you can give me!
muddy waters Posted October 29, 2008 Author Report Posted October 29, 2008 So I was anxious to get started and got a room at....The good Old Roosevelt for $155 a night! Saving me $130 + taxes. My first offer was rejected at $145 so I added Brooklyn.
thereuare Posted October 29, 2008 Report Posted October 29, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Same hotel... cheaper price; works in my book everytime!Glad to see you're hapyp with the results and thank you for sharing your win with the board. Can you confirm the actual dates of your winning bid (did you include the nite of the 16th in your bidding or not)? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.PS- as i often recommend, give Ess-A-Bagel a try for breakfast one morning... one of the best bagels in the city and makes for a great, and inexpensive, breakfast with local NYers (on Third Ave at 51st St) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
muddy waters Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 The dates are Friday November 14th and Saturday November 15th at $155 a night. I did not include Sunday night the 17th because there will be 4 of us staying in the room that night. Thanks for the advice on Ess-A-Bagel, we'll give it a try.
