IRISH Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 hi all , i am new to site wondering if anyone could help with my search for room in new york from feb 15-20 . would like something near macys 34th street . 2 of us will be travelling (early 20's )first time in new york so would like somewhere central. would like 3star, would be great if we could get it for under 150 including all taxes etc.
thereuare Posted October 28, 2008 Report Posted October 28, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!would like something near macys 34th streetYou can't choose the exact location of your hotel, only the zone(s) you're willing to accept (as defined by PRICELINE)Please go to PRICELINE and look at the zones and their boundaries and let us know which zones you're willing to accept (and wouuld be happy staying anywhere within the shaded region which defines the zone.I'll also ask... why do you want/need to be close to Macys? If it's because you feel that this will be most central, most visitors to the city are fine with any of the midtown zones and find them fairly centrally located (although i'll add that there are some hotels at the 3.5* and below star level which are a 15 minute walk to the subway, so if you decide this is too far for your needs than i wouldn't include this zone in your bidding. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. IRISH Posted October 30, 2008 Author Report Posted October 30, 2008 thanks for that...would like to stay in the madisson square area , reason we would like to be close to macys is so we can shop there really late and not worry about getting subways/taxis back to our hotel. also re priceline as my dates are in february would i be better waiting closer to date to bid or how is the best way to do things. so many questions!!
thereuare Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 As far as "when to bid" see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.You're free to bid whichever zone(s) and you know your needs best, but i wouldn't choose a hotel based upon proximity to Macy's... getting a taxi shouldn't be difficult (unless it's raining or snowing) and there is a taxi line in front of the store. Surely it would be better to take a $10 cab ride the 2-3x you may need it after shopping then to pay $25-$50+ more per nite for a hotel room. NYC zones are so close together, and the city is easily navigatable via mass transit that most midtown zones typcially work out well for the average user. (just my 2 cents)Let us know once you're ready to bid, and if you'd like to try for a 3.5* first (or a 4* if you choose to include other zones) up to your limit before trying for a 3* OR if your goal is the least expensive 3* or better for this stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
