mgs Posted October 26, 2008 Report Posted October 26, 2008 HelloWe are 3 couples travelling to NYC for some theater and also to see AC DC. Generallymy wife and I stay at the Red Roof Inn on 32nd when we go to NYC. We do have roomsreserved there again but the price is $299/nt. I have used Hotwire before butnever for NYC. A 4* with fitness, pool, restaurant, business center and wi-fiis showing up for $199 in the Soho area. We are flexible where we stay and will pay upto $300, but of course would prefer to pay less. $299 for the RRI seem a bit much.Any idea as to what this Soho hotel may be and would you take it? We require 3 rooms. Also weare Canadian so I don't think I can use Priceline (at least that was the caselast time I checked). Thanks in advance.
thereuare Posted October 27, 2008 Report Posted October 27, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Millenium Hilton so that would be our best guess. This property gets good reviews, but it is located Downtown, which can be a little out of the way (certainly do-able but it is a bit less convenient than midtown) if most of the things you intend on doing are in the midtown area. With the location noted, it would be a significant upgrade in quality vs. the Red Roof Inn. Not sure if you will buy theater tickets prior to your arrival or if you intend to go to the TKTS booth, but if the latter option, you will have easier access to the downtwn TKTS which always has a shorter line than its Times Square counterpart.Besides theater and AC/DC (where is the concert?) where do you intend to spend most of your time seeing and doing things? There are other options more centrally located in midtown which would be an improvement over the Red Roof Inn, imo.You can use PRICELINE from Canada without any issues. mgs Posted October 29, 2008 Author Report Posted October 29, 2008 Thank you very much for your reply. The concert is at MSG and yes we will be doing most activites around Midtown. I will continue to explore options for Midtown (through the links from here of course). I now have the RRI for $285, but still this seems steep for such a hotel. I am willing to pay that price but would expect more for my dollar. Any suggestions are most welcome.
thereuare Posted October 30, 2008 Report Posted October 30, 2008 Currently on HOTWIRE there are a couple of 4* hotels in the mid-$200's and multiple 3.5* hotels in the low-$200's... what is your objective at this point in terms of price vs. star rating?Any thoughts on the Millenium Broadway for $249/nite?Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
