gallis Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Hi, I've been trying to get a 4* in Manhattan for the last few days. Have failed with biddings up to 185$.Tonight I started high at 160$ MTW declined and then 176$ MTE+MTW which got me the Grand Hyatt.Probably that was not an optimal bidding strategy but I was a bit frustrated from the last few days.I need to call the hotel and ask for double non-smoking. Does anyone here have experience with them? Should I expect any problem?I used the forum PRICELINE link. This forum has been very useful.Thanks,Gal.
AaronJB Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Thank you very much for using the forum link, it is greatly appreciated.Non-smoking should not be a problem. However, Priceline only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed. Granting a request of 2 beds is up to the particular hotel.
gallis Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 Thanks. One double bed is what I want. What I don't want is two twins.BTW, once my bid was accepted, I was offered to extend my stay for the same rate.
thereuare Posted October 25, 2008 Report Posted October 25, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! This hotel is "pretty good" about honoring requests when available, but even though the hotel is large, is does get quite crowded with business travelers, and sometimes your request is non avaialble. My guess is that they will note it on your reservation but re-iterate that it's not guaranteed. Also, i wouldn't ask for one double bed... ask for a room with at least a Queen bed, so sense cramming if you don't have to :) (unless of course you want to :) )Thanks for posting your win to the board and using our PRICELINE link... we're glad to know the board has been helpful.PS- as i often recommend in this area, try Ess-A-Bagel for breakfast one day, about a 10-15 minute walk from this hotel on Third Ave at 51st St... one of the best bagels in the city and makes for a good, and inexpensive, breakfast among local NYers Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
