surfgirl Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Hi all,I am trying to find a room for three adults (2 beds is fine) in New York 3/13-3/17. We prefer a 4* in MTE, MTW, TS, UM/CPS (did I get the spelling right?). I checked the 4 for 3 offer for Sheraton and a room for 3 adults has an average price of $284. Our maximum bid is thus $275..but would obviously love to pay less than that and save some money to have a few cosmopolitans :)Any suggestions? Thanks!
AaronJB Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Welcome to the site. :)Let me do some research and see what I can find. Be back momentarily. The issue with PRICELINE in this case is that there would be no guarantee of 2 beds, especially in NYC, where rooms with 2 beds are limited & often go at a premium. PRICELINE also only guarantees double occupancy/1 bed.
AaronJB Posted October 23, 2008 Report Posted October 23, 2008 While it's not exactly what you were looking for (a 3.5*), the Roosevelt is $213.75 on sale for these dates via Expedia. If you use coupon code FAN50, you get $50 off the final total. The historic Algonquin is $238 (25% off) for a Premier Suite - 1 Queen/1 Sofabed - on Travelocity.com. This would be a better choice, given the somewhat larger room.Either of these might be good ideas for the meantime. I believe they are both refundable (but please MAKE SURE TO READ THE FINE PRINT!)If these are refundable, you would at least have a back-up and could wait to see if rates come down further between now and March. Plus, these would both be moderately under your max.If you are interested in either of these ideas, it would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's links to either Travelocity.com or Expedia.com to start your purchase.I'm not seeing much of anything on HOTWIRE for these dates.
surfgirl Posted October 23, 2008 Author Report Posted October 23, 2008 Hey,Thanks for the tips! I'll definitely look into the Roosevelt and Algonquin. If they are refundable, I might be tempted to take one of them as a back-up option and see if something turns up on HOTWIRE. This site is great and you guys are so helpful! Thanks!
surfgirl Posted December 10, 2008 Author Report Posted December 10, 2008 Hi all,Although our trip is still months away, we decided to confirm a room and booked a room at The Westin New York at Times Square. This was a buy 3 get 1 free promo, so we ended up paying $329.25/night for 4 people in the room with an upgrade with my SPG gold card :)
