ladnick Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Hi Phani,I was planning to stay at the swissotel also on NOV 8th. Can you help me with the strategy for it? Thanks in advanceladnick
AaronJB Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Moved this post to its own thread.A couple of questions:1. Are you staying 11/8 only?2. What is your budget for hotel for the night?Additionally, if you are trying to get a specific hotel, I wouldn't recommend HOTWIRE or PRICELINE.
ladnick Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 Thanks for moving it to a new thread.Yes we were planning to just stay for 11/08 onlyand we were shooting for Swissotel (prefer it).Budget was $100 Is it possible to create a stategy for this hotel only?ThanksLadnick
AaronJB Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 Unfortunately, it isn't possible to create a strategy for a specific hotel. HOTWIRE and PRICELINE are discount services and, the trade off for that discount is giving up some control over where you end up. I do not see the Swiss on Hotwire, either, unfortunately. You could bid on Priceline in order to try and get the Swiss, but that would be the equivalent of rolling virtual dice - you may get the Swiss, but there's also a very sizable chance you may get something else.If you are willing to accept a different hotel than the Swiss, is there an area - Loop or Mag Mile - which you would prefer?
ladnick Posted October 22, 2008 Author Report Posted October 22, 2008 Thanks for a quick responseIf its not possible to get Swissotel ... I guess I am willing to go fgor any other 4 * hotels in Millenium Park - The Loop - Grant Park zone (Swissotel is in this zone .. rigt?). In that case I was willing to stay at :Hyatt Regency Chicago W Hotel Chicago City CenterThe Blackstone Renaissance HotelCan you please help with a possible strategy? Thanks
AaronJB Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 This is a busy date, and many hotels are either showing very high rates or, in some cases, are sold out. I'm not sure why this date seems so busy/expensive, given that there are no major conventions I can see on the convention calendar. Those three hotels are in the MP/Loop/Grant Park area on Priceline. However, there is still no guarantee you will get one of those hotels - you may very well get a different property (such as the Palmer House.) There is no way to bid on Priceline in order to have a better chance at a specific hotel. If you try to bid more for a specific hotel, you may very well wind up overbidding and still getting a hotel you didn't want. The other issue is that, given the rates on these dates, there's a moderate chance $100 may not be enough.I would start off at $95 for a 4* in the MP/Loop/Grant Park area; if that isn't accepted, try again at $100 24 hours later. Please use the site's link to PRICELINE to start your purchase.
thereuare Posted October 22, 2008 Report Posted October 22, 2008 ladnick,What is the best rate you're able to find for an acceptable 4* hotel for this nite?
