slick_gd Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Neither of these hotels have been reported to the board, however, checking HOTWIRE I noticed that the tripadvisor traveler review rating was listed for the South Airport hotel:3* South Airport: 3/5 based on 40+ reviews, last one in SeptReferencing tripadvisor directly gives a couple possibilities that match this traveler rating, one is the Westin and the other is the Clarion. Neither is listed as a 3* hotel, the Westin is listed as 4* and the Clarion as 2*. Star ratings don't always match up so what we have to determine is which one of these could also be a 3*. Doing a quick goolge search shows that several other sites consider the Clarion a 3*, while the Westin has been rated as high as 4.5*. So I think the Clarion is the better guess for this hotel. The 3* North Airport is a little harder to pinpoint as the traveler review rating is not listed, but could be the Holiday Inn or a similar hotel.Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
thereuare Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I can't add much to slick_gd's assessment, but i'll add that of the two (Westin and Clarion) i would favor this being the Clarion as a 3* rating from HOTWIRE seems more likely for that property than the Westin.I'll also add that i "don't feel good" about the Oyster Point property... a 3* hotel which doesn't offer a restaurant or complimetary breakfast seems like it may be over-rated, imo (not that the guess of the Clarion above wouldn't be either)Is this the area you need to be in or were you attraced by the low prices? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. CMH Travel Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 Thanks for the response and making me aware of your concerns which is really helpful. I have been reading a lot of reviews on this area and it appears that most of the hotels in the area appear to be somewhat dated. I don't necessarily need to stay around the airport as I will be going to San Rafael during some part of the stay and up into the Napa area as well. I would love to get something for about <$100 / night for all three nights. Any other suggestions on where I should be looking?
thereuare Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 What about the San Rafael or Napa areas? What appears to be the Four Points San Rafael is available for $94/nite, and while this typically isn't my first choice of chains, this one appears to get very good reviews.Would that work for your needs... or perhaps SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID between this area and/or the Napa area? Not sure where you Napa you need to be, but the Doubletree in Rhonert Park appears to be avaialble for $120/nite, but not sure if that would be close enough to where you need to be in Napa. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Thoughts?
