j22frosty Posted October 20, 2008 Report Posted October 20, 2008 My goal is to reserve a resort hotel for November 10-12 in Hollywood Florida.First, using the PRICELINE link from this site, I checked the prices in HOTWIRE. A price of $149 for a 4.5 star property with the exact same features as listed on the BETTER BIDDING list for the Westin Diplomat Country Club and Spa. I then used the theory that one should always get a cheaper price through Priceline and used the PRICELINE link to bid on a Hollywood Resort. I started at $130 and using "free bids" I continued in $5 increments up to $150. All were rejected. What was wrong with my logic? Was it really the Westin Diplomat Country Club?Do you think that PRICELINE sometimes is more expensive than HOTWIRE? Should I take the Hotwire $149 offer for a 4.5 star property? Could it be another hotel? Thank you for your help!
j22frosty Posted October 21, 2008 Author Report Posted October 21, 2008 I used the PRICELINE link in the upper right hand corner of the home page of www.betterbidding.com for Priceline today. I bid $135 for a Resort in Hollywood Florida for 11/10/2008 and it was accepted! I got the hotel I wanted which was the Westin Diplomat Resort and Spa. I could not extend it by one day when I was offered an opportunity to apply. Thank you.
thereuare Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 Congratulations on your win!Glad to hear you received the hotel you were hoping for and are happy with the results.Have you checked HOTWIRE for the additional nite that you were looking for? Are you still looking for that nite or have you decided to shorted this trip to a one nite stay?Thank you for sharing your results with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.Enjoy your stay. j22frosty Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 I am still looking for a night. Checking Hotwire for Hollywood, there is a 4.5 star hotel for $149 which I think is the Diplomat Country Club and a 4 star resort for $122 which could be the Diplomat or Crowne Plaza. I am afraid it is latter because they turned down my bid for more. Do you agree?I can get the Crowne Plaza at their web site though for $105 (no cancellations).Does the Marriott ever appear?
