radmom Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 I am new to this. Please take pity on me and lead me through this. I have decided on a whim to take my kids on a quick trip to Chicago. I am looking for cheap hotel in suburbs. Schaumburg,Arlington Heights area etc.... I want an indoor pool and a complimentary breakfast would be great. We wll only be staying 1 night (10/23). Can someone please help? I want a nice, clean and safe hotel but don't need anything fancy. We usually do Holiday Inn,Choice hotels etc. Any help is greatly appreciated.THANKS!!!!!!!!!!:)
thereuare Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Few points to consider...I have decided on a whim to take my kids on a quick trip to Chicago.PRICELINE only guarantees double occupancy, after that it is at the descretion of the hotel. It is possible, and the hotel would be within their right, if they only offered you a room with one bed. Not sure the age of your children or if you'd be able to work around this. This is typically more of an issue in large cities as space is often at a premium and rooms are notoriously small and city hotels often have a large percentage of rooms with only one bed.If this is not acceptable you could try HOTWIRE which allows you to search for up to quad occupancy and ensures sleeping accomodations for everyone included in your search.Schaumburg, Arlington Heights area etc....Please let us know exactly which zones you're willing to include (ie- not "etc")I want an indoor pool and a complimentary breakfast would be great. With PRICELINE you can't target a specific hotel nor the amenities offered. If these amenities are important to you HOTWIRE can be a better option as they will show you the amenities offered by the hotel before your purchase and you can choose one which has a pool icon (although no guarantee it's an indoor pool) and a complimentary breakfast icon. Showing the amenity icons gives you the ability to take an educated guess as to the hotel you may receive before your purchase, but HOTWIRE is usually a little more expensive than PRICELINE.Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and/or any questions you have and we'll take it from there. AaronJB Posted October 18, 2008 Report Posted October 18, 2008 For this date, I see a 3.5* in the Arlington Heights/Elk Grove Village area with the amenities: Suite, Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Golf, Business, Laundry for $49. This would likely be the Sheraton Suites Elk Grove VillageWhile it doesn't have breakfast, many hotels don't - and this is a really great rate for a very nice property. While it doesn't have breakfast, it does have a pool and at least it is a suite. If this is of interest, it would be greatly appreciated if you could click the site's HOTWIRE link (click the HOTWIRE) to start your purchase, as it supports the site.Additionally, if you are looking for a fun family activity, you could take your kids on a tour of a candy factory in Buffalo Grove, which is about 9 miles from the Sheraton Suites Elk Grove (if that is the Hotwire listing above, which I think it is). More information on the tours, which are $2 a person, below.http://www.longgrove.com/acatalog/Factory_Tours.html
