What is your best guess?

2nd question. I've read the posts about Hotel Burnham associated with this hotwire entry. When I pull it up on map quest it is way outside the Chicago Loop area. What am I missing?

Good morning! :)

Mapquest is definitely in error on that one, as the Burnham is square in the middle of the Loop area.

Let me take a look at the other HOTWIRE listing and see if I can find other ideas. Be right back.

The 4* Loop would appear to be the Palmer House, as apparently their pool is open again after a fairly lengthy renovation.

However, I see a Mag Mile/Streeterville 4* for $105 with the amenities:Restaurant, Pool, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Tennis, Spa. That would appear to be a match for the Swissotel. For a few bucks more per night, you would be getting a more central location than the Palmer.

Although, if you need to be in the middle of the loop area, then the Palmer would be the better choice.

It would also be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to HOTWIRE.com (click the HOTWIRE) to start your purchase.

[The conference hotel we are trying to be close to is the Chicago Hilton. My husband will be there while the girls and I want to hit museums and such. We don't want to be too far from the Hilton because we are trying not to rent a car. What is your best advice for area?

When I search for 2 adults/2 kids, I get a series of interesting options:

1. 4* Mag Mile/Streeterville, Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet, Business, Laundry, Spa. $129. Based on the amenities, this would be a potential match for the James.

As for the James:

Pros:

A. If your girls are in their teens, they may appreciate the "hip" factor of the trendy, boutique James.

B. The James is right off Michigan Ave - shopping is a block away.

C. There are many, many restaurant options nearby.

D. The nearest subway station is a few blocks away, and there are plenty of busses along Michigan Ave.

E. At night, the Loop area can be very quiet. If you were to go out at night in the area where the James is, there'd be more activity.

Cons:

A. Further, although certainly not horribly so, from the Hilton. It would probably be a $7-8 cab ride, but should be no more than that and may be a buck or two less, depending on traffic.

2. 4* loop - Boutique, Restaurant, Hi-Speed Internet, Business. $129. Likely the Burnham.

Pros:

A. Closer to Hilton and Museums (although again, it's not a bad trip from the James to either of those.)

B. The hotel is very historic and has been beautifully restored. This will likely appeal to you and may or may not appeal to your girls.

C. There is some shopping along Michigan Ave.

Cons:

A. Once it gets later at night, it can get VERY quiet in the Loop.

B. The historic Burnham does have small rooms, even if you get two doubles.

C. There is a major construction project across the street and I don't think it's done yet - there may be noise. There is also a CTA project and some reviews of the hotel have reported work on that at night.

If you are interested in either of these choices, it would be greatly appreciated if you could start your purchase by using the site's link to HOTWIRE.

Those are the two main choices. It will take me a couple of minutes to provide a list of additional choices.

3. Wyndham Chicago

- $107.50 non-refundable via Expedia.com. Use coupon code FAN50 for $50 off the final total.

This is a little further North from where the James is, and while it's not as nice as the James, it is certainly an above-average business hotel and does have a pool.
