translaw Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Hi folks!A couple of times we got the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables on Hotwire but we once got the Westin Colonnade, which we didn't like at all. To begin with, it is totally non-smoking :-( And it was still being repaired so there was a nasty smell of paint in our room that made us leave the hotel earlier than expected and, of course, we wasted the money we had paid.Does anybody know how many chances we have to get the Hyatt and NOT the Westin throug PRICELINE? The dates are October 24 to 27.Thank you!!Silvia
thereuare Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! With PRICELINE there is no way to target one propery vs. another. If you don't want to stay at the Westin then i wouldn't use PRICELINE for this stay.HOTWIRE may be an option if you can identify the property offered before your purchase, but you won't know the hotel offered unti after your purchase, so there is some risk involved going this route as well (you have to assume that you guessed the ID of the hotel correctly)Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll try to advise acordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. translaw Posted October 17, 2008 Author Report Posted October 17, 2008 Thank you very much!! I'm not very familiar with the process, but as far as I know the Westin and the Hyatt share all the amenities so it's difficult to tell which one you are betting for. Of course I understand the risks involved, but I just wanted to see if you could give me any hint. How can I identify the ID of the hotel?I will appreciate your prompt reply.Warm regards from Buenos Aires,Silvia
thereuare Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 The 4* appearing on HOTWIRE for your dates shows a Tripadvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 which both the Hyatt and the Westin have. However, HOTWIRE is also showing that the last review for the property offered is October 2008... the Hyatt hasn't been reviewed in October while the Westin has been, so best guess is that you're being offered the Westin. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know whatever you decide to do for this stay or if we can be of further help. translaw Posted October 29, 2008 Author Report Posted October 29, 2008 We finally decided not to book through HOTWIRE and PRICELINE and booked 2 nights directly with The Mutiny hotel in Coconut Grove. The rate was high (around $200) but the hotel was very nice and the room had a wonderful view. The day we arrived there was little water in the shower due to a broken pump. I let the manager on duty know and the day we left they took 100 dollars and the parking fees off our bill, which is was a good compensation for the inconvenience. I remember that the same happened to us in Pisa (Italy) and they only took 5 euros off our bill!!!Thank you for the tips!Silvia
