Kimmie0712 Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 My husband and I are travelling to Chicago for the Bears game on November 9th. We only need the room for that night. Here is what Hotwire gave me:$124 a night for 4* hotel in Chicago LoopAmenities: Boutique Hotel, Restaurant, Business Center, High Speed InternetPoints of Interest: 1. Grant Park 2. Sears Tower 3. Art Institute 4. Cultural Center 5. Motorola This sounds like Hotel Burnham to me. Is this a good deal for one night?***eta: Am I looking in the right area to stay? Again, we are just staying for one night; is the Loop an ok area? Or should I look in a different area? Thank you!!
thereuare Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! The above is a match for the Hotel Burnham so that would be our best guess. The Loop and NMA zones are the two most frequently bid. The NMA zone is a bit "livelier" with more restaurants and nightlife while the Loop zone can get a bit quiet at nite. However, the two zones are nearby each other and are a moderate walk (or a short and inexpensive cab ride) that based upon your needs it sounds like it should work out fine. (but you know your needs better than we do so you should doublecheck to make sure the location is good for you)Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Normally I'd suggest the North Michigan Ave. first, the Loop area second. However, if you are staying one night and primarily here to see the Bears Game, the Burnham would be perfect.
Kimmie0712 Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 Do you think I could get a better deal on PRICELINE for the same area? Thank you for all of your help!
AaronJB Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 You may be able to do somewhat better via PRICELINE. If you are interested in a 4* in the Loop area, I would recommend bidding $90. If $90 doesn't work, try $95 24 hours later and if $95 doesn't work, $100 24 hours after that.It would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's PRICELINE link (click the PRICELINE) to start your bidding.
thereuare Posted October 15, 2008 Report Posted October 15, 2008 Do you think I could get a better deal on PRICELINE for the same area? Thank you for all of your help!Keep in mind that if you choose to bid on PRICELINE you may receive a hotel other than the Burnham... so you'll need to be comfortable with receiving any 4* hotel in this zone.If you choose to bid on PRICELINE do you also want to include the NMA zone? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Kimmie0712 Posted October 16, 2008 Author Report Posted October 16, 2008 To be honest, I don't have a huge preference on where we stay as long as it's nice. We are primarily in town for the Bears game (go Titans btw) and will only be in the hotel for one night. After the game we'd like to see a little bit of the city, but that is not our primary reason for being there. Hope that all makes sense.
AaronJB Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 I'd still say bid for the MP/Loop/GP area. The 4*'s in that area are generally very nice, and it would be a shorter distance to the Bears game, while still allowing easy (or moderately easy) access to most sights.
