mavila3 Posted October 15, 2008 Author Report Posted October 15, 2008 I have a question is the hotel allegro chicago very strict about the age requirement?im 20 and will be 21 on the day of check out. would this be a problem when checking in?
thereuare Posted October 16, 2008 Report Posted October 16, 2008 This is the same hotel you asked about above for which it was stated the best guess is the Hotel Allegro... do you have a reason to believe it is something else?PRICELINE and HOTWIRE reservations are for "standard rooms". Room types (number of beds, king, queeen, etc) are not designated... some properties pre-assign a given room type while others book "run of house" (not assigned until check-in). Is there a specific room configuration you need?Technically you need to be 21 years old to check-in... some hotels enforce this while others do not. Also, this is a "blanket" policy that PRICELINE uses to cover all their properties, as some require 21 years old while others require 18 years old. This could potentially be an issue since the rooms typically have a minibar in them and therefore you would have access to alcohol (supplied by the hotel) while being underage. I would call the Hotel Allegro and ask them their specific age requirement, and if 21 years old, ask if you reserver a room if they can make it "dry" by taking any alcohol out of the minibar and allow you to check-in at 20 years old. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know what you end up doing for this stay or if we can be of further help. AaronJB Posted October 17, 2008 Report Posted October 17, 2008 There are very few hotels in the city that allow those under 21 to check in. The Allegro would likely be a no because it's a Kimpton and they have the free evening wine hour.
OSUBUCKEYES Posted October 21, 2008 Report Posted October 21, 2008 I have a question is the hotel allegro chicago very strict about the age requirement?im 20 and will be 21 on the day of check out. would this be a problem when checking in?I would be very cautious about attempting to check into a hotel when before you are 21. I had a similar situation years ago before I was 21. I was stranded in Las Vegas due to a flight cancellation and got the Harrahs hotel via priceline. The desk agent wouldnt let me check in and the situation turned into a physical confrontation. Its an absurd policy that many hotels have, however I would book a hotel that you will certainly be able to check into before your 21st birthday.
