simike Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Hi,I am planning to visit New York for the first time on December 19-21. I would like to stay near the heart of things (from your post on zones this appears to be MTE, MTW, CP, TS). I am not sure how Priceline rates hotels. At any rate, I am not too particular. I just want something clean/not dingy. Any suggestions as to bidding strategy/number of stars to request? Ideally, I'd like to get a place for $140/50 per night, but can spend up to about $180 per night. Thanks,Simike
thereuare Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 Since the thread you are refering to was written, PRICELINE has redfined the zones and the new zones which most users are willing to accept are MTE, MTW, CPS, TS ESB, MSG, and Chelsea... are all of there acceptable? It's difficult to say what star rating you should bid as only you know what type of hotels you usually stay in and how 'picky' of a traveler you are. To be on the safe side i would probably start with the 3.5* level, although note that in some zones hotels at this star level can be a 15 minute walk to the subway, is that acceptable to you? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how the above and we'll advise accordingly. simike Posted October 14, 2008 Author Report Posted October 14, 2008 All the zones that you mentioned look fine. Also, a 15 minute walk to the subway would be ok. Finally, I'll definitely use your links to make the purchase (if I end up going). Thanks,Simike
