freshstart19 Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 Amenities are:breakfast, fitness, business, laundry and internetThe only 2.5 star I see in the "hotwire" list is a Best Western but that mentions a shuttle and doesn't have the laundry icon.Any ideas? Thanks!
freshstart19 Posted October 11, 2008 Author Report Posted October 11, 2008 OH, I forgot. Planning on going on 10/16 for 1 night.
slick_gd Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 HOTWIRE lists the tripadvisor traveler rating for this hotel as 3/5 circles based on 40+ reviews with the last one in October. Going to tripadvisor directly and looking for hotels that match this rating, only 1 comes up. The Hotel 140. The amenities also match. The Hotel 140 would be my best guess.Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
freshstart19 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 Thanks for your reply but I'm a little confused. You mentioned that HOtwire lists it as 3/5 circles but it came up as a 2.5 star in my search. Can you explain that a little. If I go on the other site to compare amenities, I would have been looking for a 2.5 star rating not 3.
freshstart19 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 Oh, just went to the Hotel 140 website and it is booked for October 16th. I still would like to figure out how you came up with that property though. Thanks!!
slick_gd Posted October 12, 2008 Report Posted October 12, 2008 The star rating and the tripadvisor traveler review rating are two separate ratings for the same hotel. The star rating is the class of hotel, while the traveler review rating is based on peoples experiences at the hotel based on a number of factors, such as cleanliness, friendliness of staff, room comfort, etc. So in this case, the 2.5* hotel was rated 3/5 by people that have stayed there. That doesn't mean that people think it should be a 3* hotel though. This is useful when trying to pinpoint a hotel on HOTWIRE because it is something that is easily searchable on tripadvisor. (Tripadvisor and HOTWIRE are owned by the same parent company, as well as Expedia and others)So when I went to tripadvisor I was looking to match the traveler review ratings first and then once I found all the hotels that fit the traveler rating I then looked at matching the star rating, the amenities, and the location.I hope I have been somewhat clear. So did you end up booking the hotel through HOTWIRE?
freshstart19 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 Thanks for the explanation.... No, I haven't booked yet. I still think prices are way too high on HOTWIRE. May try to PRICELINE a room. Will use the link through this website if I do.
freshstart19 Posted October 12, 2008 Author Report Posted October 12, 2008 Oh, I forgot to ask. How did you know that the traveler review rating was 3/5? That's not on the screen that Hotwire gives you with the amenities and prices...
thereuare Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 The TripAdvisor information may show on some searches but not others (even if for the same dates, zones, etc)Can you please follow-up your previous Hotwire Niagara Falls thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Thanks.
