aaronmidnight Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 I was particularly interested in staying in the Richardson area even though I know there are cheaper 4* hotels in Downtown Dallas.I've seen 4* hotels in this zone come up for $70 elsewhere and I had plenty of rebid zones, so I started low at $55 and increased my bid using $5 increments. At $80, my bid was accepted by Hyatt Regency North Dallas (renovated and rebranded this year from its previous incarnation - The Richardson Hotel). Reviews seem mixed at TripAdvisor and Expedia, but largely positive in recent months. With taxes, the hotel would have cost around $600+ for three nights through Expedia. With taxes and fees, I ended up paying $285+ through Priceline. Hooray for savings of more than 50%!! :) Used the Better Bidding PRICELINE link to start my bidding. Thanks to all those who continue to post their winning bids. Hope this helps someone.Oh and FYI, self-parking at this location is apparently complimentary. At some downtown hotels, I believe parking may be around $20. This hotel seems to be within walking distance (about 1 mile) of Dallas public transit (DART Rail) which I hope to try during my trip...
