mykeyhope Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 Hello, all. I'm going to be visiting Chicago for an extended weekend, 10/16 - 10/21 and have had good experiences in the past booking Priceline hotel rooms for travel. I'd like to stay in a four-star room but am not as experienced with the Chicago hotel areas. I'm leaning toward downtown/loop. Given the weekend I am proposing, what is a good starting bid for four-star hotel rooms? $100 and then rebid accordingly? Many thanks! :)
AaronJB Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 I would start bidding at $100, but I think given the prices on these dates and the fact that you're trying for five straight days makes $100 a little unlikely (not impossible, but on the unlikely side.) I would start at $100 for a 4* in either of the two main downtown zones (River North/NMA or Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park) and work up by $5's (if not $100, then $105 24 hours later). If $100 isn't accepted, I think the likely price that will be accepted is much higher than that, so that's why I would go up by only $5's.If you break up your dates, you may be able to do a little better, given that the first two days seem mildly cheaper than the last three.Personally, I would recommend the River North/NMA area first, then the Millennium Park/Loop/Grant Park area second. The River North/NMA area is more active at night if you do plan out on staying out into the evening, while the Loop/MP area can be quiet (very quiet in some areas of the Loop) later in the evening. If you stay in the NMA area and want to head to the Loop, it's not much (although varies depending on exact location) of a trip between the two areas. It would be greatly appreciated if you could start your PRICELINE bidding by clicking on the site's link to PRICELINE. Please ask if you have any questions, and let us know how it goes.
thereuare Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 If budget is a primary concern, many users often bid both the NMA and the Loop zones, trying to get whichever offers the lower price for their given dates.Once you decide upon which zone(s) you're willing to bid, let us know your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. AaronJB Posted October 9, 2008 Report Posted October 9, 2008 The Westin River North is one of the nicest 4*'s in the city, with a gorgeous Japanese-style lobby (the hotel was formerly the Hotel Nikko.)
