weslaco Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 This is my first betterbidding attempt so please advise if I screw it up.I'm looking at 2 Hotwire postings for a stay in D/T Chicago (Mag-Mile, Streeterville) Oct 15-18, 2008. 4* $154 - Amenities: Smoke Free Rooms, Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access.4.5* $209 - Fitness Center, Pool(s), Restaurant(s), Business Center, High-speed Internet Access.Any ideas as to the hotels?Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.
slick_gd Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 These would be my best guesses based on matching amenities:4.5* - Inter-Continental4* - SheratonUse this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result:
AaronJB Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I wouldn't recommend the Sheraton and the Intercontinental price seems a touch high. Let me see if I can come up with other options for these dates.
AaronJB Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 I'd strongly recommend the Amalfi for $161.75 on sale via Expedia.com Use Expedia coupon code FAN50 for $50 off the final total (which would take care of much of the tax). Very nice hotel, plus free breakfast and evening reception. The Amalfi's also in a great location in the River North area (lots of restaurants/nightlife nearby), which is a short walk from Michigan Ave.I'd definitely recommend the Amalfi over either of those HOTWIRE choices - no contest. It would be greatly appreciated if you could use the site's link to Expedia.com to start your purchase.
AaronJB Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 The Amalfi also gets a 4.5/5 rating on tripadvisor and is rated #12 out of the many Chicago hotels. Plus, again, the free breakfast and evening reception are nice bonuses.
weslaco Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 Well, I'm back for more:Hotwire now has a 4.5* for $159 on the Mag Mile (Streeterville) for 10/15-10/18 with Fitness Center, Restaurant, Business Center and High-Speed Internet Access. Any ideas?Since my trip is day after tomorrow, I'll be pulling the trigger soon (via your site obviously). Thanks again.
thereuare Posted October 13, 2008 Report Posted October 13, 2008 This appears to be a match for the Inter-Continental so that would be our best guess for this offering. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. weslaco Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 You were absolutely right in that the hotel was the InterContinental.I booked it a couple of hours after your most recent reply and it had gone down in price to $144.Thanks for the help.
