Hi, I'd like to get a room for the night of 11/8, check out 11/9 and bids for 4* at NMA and Loop aren't being accepted at $125. I see there are 4*s in the Greater Chicago zone. Does anyone have any experience with those, what they might be like - are they in rougher parts of town or not so great?

I'm trying to decide whether to bid for a 3* in NMA/Loop, or a 4* in Greater Chicago, so any advice on that would be appreciated. Most of our activities will be in the Loop area. I have been using the Betterbidding link to PRICELINE...

Thanks!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

If you look in the Priceline Hotel List you'll see that the Hyatt McCormick Place has been reported in the Greater Chicago zone at the 4* level... there could be others, but this is at least one possibility.

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Thank you for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links :)

The Greater Chicago area is NOT one I would recommend for tourists at all. It's only recommended for convention goers looking to stay at the Hyatt McCormick and, even then, I'd still rather recommend staying downtown. There are no other hotels in this area that could be considered 4*'s besides the Hyatt.

You will not likely get a cheaper rate by staying in the Greater Chicago area and even if the price of a winning bid was somewhat cheaper - it's not worth it.

About 3.5 weeks ago I secured 3 nights in downtown Chicago, using all the rebid zones, trying for NMA or the Loop, and starting from about $60 a night. For 11/5 and 11/6 I got the Hyatt Regency for $85 per night, plus taxes and fees. Their website indicated that it would be fully booked on the night of 11/7. I kept bidding NMA and the Loop, and got the Hotel Burnham for $100 for 11/7, plus taxes and fees. I then kept trying for the night of 11/8 in both zones, but finally stopped after my bid for $130 was rejected.

And I used the PRICELINE link on this board. Thanks for all the help! I'm looking forward to the trip!

Congratulations on your win(s)!

Please only post one win per thread as it enables us to stick with the board format reflecting the details of each win in the topic title and also ensures that other aspects of the board, such as the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins, performs properly. We have edited your topic title to reflect your first purchase of the Hyatt, please start a NEW TOPIC to reflect your second purchase of the Burnham.

Also, is this in addition to or does it replace your previous Priceline Chicago thread which is for dates just after those above.

Thank you for sharing you wins with the board and using our PRICELINE link to begin your bidding.

Enjoy your stay(s).
