Coba20 Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Hi want to stay in NYC 10-25-08 for one night and need help with bidding etc Thanks alot! Oh btw would love to stay in Downtown/soho area first and foremost .. .also know need some flexibility but that would be my number #1 choice and next thing i want of course is 4 star only. .. so willing to stay at other areas as long as i get 4 star!
thereuare Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! As you prefer the Downtown zone (note: most wins in this zone are near the World Trade Center area and not in Soho) are you willing to pay more to be in this zone vs. the other zones OR are you looking for the least expensive 4* hotel in any of your acceptable zones? (what are your acceptable zones... anywhere within Manhattan??)Also, we dont' want to suggest a strategy to follow which is more than you are willing to spend, what is your maximum bid for this stay?Let us know the above and we'll suggest a strategy to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Coba20 Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 Thanks for your reply. . .I am willing to stay somewhere else as long as stay at 4 star. .. .I guess max willing to spend would be less than 280 as going rate for Mileneum Hilton is around 319 and also reserved room at Gild for 330 . . .the 280 is what i would be willing to pay including taxes. .. is that reasonable or should i expect to pay more given it is NYC Thanks
thereuare Posted October 2, 2008 Report Posted October 2, 2008 So to confirm... you're looking for any 4* hotel (i'm assuming MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB, or Downtown are all acceptable) with a maximum bid of $235/nite? (which is about $280 after taxes and fees) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases

Coba20 Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 Do you mean that when i initially bid i check MTE, MTW, CPS, TS, ESB and Downtown.. and then on subsequent re bid i increase price and then check of re-bid zone? Or first bid Downtown and then when want to rebid rebid other areas such as MTE and then rebid MTW etc and then when those are exhausted check off rebid zones such as Long Island?thanks
Coba20 Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 Never mind .. i understand. . was at work and couldnt focus 100% will bid now and let you know how it goes.. . .Carlos

Coba20 Posted October 4, 2008 Author Report Posted October 4, 2008 Same max bid still holds. . . I am willing to do 3 star as the hotels you show in your pinned list look reasonable. .. so am willing to do 3 star as well if you think it would be wise.. .my fiance and I just want to stay at nice place for one night but as date is approaching would be willing to go down to 3 star if it still would mean we get a placeOh would prefer to keep all prior 4 star zones and would not prefer MSG zone
thereuare Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 I am willing to do 3 star as the hotels you show in your pinned list look reasonableThe NYC Hotel List hasn't yet been updated with PRICELINE's new 3.5* rating so many of the 3* properties you're seeing may indeed now be 3.5* properties and i would sooner bid for these first than a 3* property. If this is the route you'd like to take, at the 3.5* level you have FOUR re-bid zones available.Select 3.5* MTE, MTW, and CPS...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, ESB and Downtown...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $150, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, MTW, and Downtown...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, ESB and CPS...Bid $155, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $160, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $165, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $170, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, ESB, and CPS...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MTW and Downtown...Bid $175, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $180, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $185, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $190, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* TS, MTW, and CPS...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $210, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, ESB and Downtown...Bid $195, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $200, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $205, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $210, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 3.5* MTE, ESB, TS, MTW, CPS and Downtown...Bid $215, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $220, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $225, if rejected add re-bid zone3...Bid $230, if rejected add re-bid zone4...Bid $235Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes. audreydoll Posted October 6, 2008 Report Posted October 6, 2008 As of today, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel listed in the MTC zone for $209 for the night of 10/25/08. That's over $100 less than the 3* options listed for that same night so I wouldn't wait too long to book this.If you decide to go for it, be sure to use the HOTWIRE link in thereuare's post above when booking.
audreydoll Posted October 7, 2008 Report Posted October 7, 2008 I'm not sure if the OP is still checking this thread or not but I wanted to provide an update. That 4* Hotwire deal for $209 is gone now.

That 4* Hotwire deal for $209 is gone now.No I actually did another strategy. . .manhattan was extremely expensive and did a promotional thing via Hilton vacations for two nights in Manhattan ...have to listen to timeshare presentation though.. .but hey manhattan is expensive so it is ok ... paid 289 for vacation that i could use anytime really and got free parking for two nights .. . and 100 hilton dollars. . . .so turned out to be 189 .. .
