GinaM Posted September 30, 2008 Report Posted September 30, 2008 Hi,Looking for some advice on booking a hotel in early December that won't bankrupt me! Made the mistake of booking a cheap(ish) flight from the UK without really checking hotel prices beforehand. I knew they would be expensive but I was surprised at how much. Please can you help me navigate the PRICELINE website and hopefully win a bargain. I've never used priceline before so I apologise in advance if I ask stupid questions.Travel dates;Checkin - 3rd Dec '08Checkout - 8th Dec '08Ideal location;Times Square - Theatre DistrictMidtown WestCentral Park WestPrice willing to pay (pre night);Max - $355 a night (including taxes)Is it to early to bid for hotel rooms needed in December? Thanks in advance for your help. :)
GinaM Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 I got a bit over excited and tried Priceline without waiting for your advice. My first bid $220 - Times Square & midtown West 4* - rejected$240 - added CPS - 4*- rejectedThen $300 and reduced the star rating to 3.5 - acceptedThe Hotel is Hotel 57. I'm pretty happy with it I'm just thinking I may have increased the price to much to quickly! Anyway I'll know better next time. Found you website really useful. Thanks :)
thereuare Posted October 1, 2008 Report Posted October 1, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Thank you for sharing your results with the board. As you mention, i think you realize now that you raise your bids a bit too much between bids, but you also increased your bid amount and lowered your star rating at the same time, which is typically not recommended (see: If You Lower Your Star Quality Then Also Lower Your Bid Amount for a further discussion). Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.
