SgtofMarines Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 This is my first time using Hotwire and find it odd that they wont show which hotel it you are bidding on!Upon further research I found this site, which I greatly appreciate :) Well I really want to stay at the Sheraton Centre Toronto. Well based on its location I believe it is in Downtown Toronto West. The Dates for stay are October 11-13 2008I found two hotels in that area:The first one is a 4.5* hotel that has the following:-Fitness Center-pool-restaurant-business center-wifi-spaalthough it says 4.5* Trip advisor rates it at 3.5The next hotel is rated at 4* and has the same ammenties as stated above:Trip Advisior rates this at 4*I like Sheraton Centre but wouldnt mind settling for Le Merridien King Edward.I found Sheraton Centre from as cheap as $136 a night to as much as $171.Hopefully this helps and someone can shed some light. ThankS!!
SgtofMarines Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 I went on Trip advisor and I cross referenced the second one I posted with the 4* and it was rated 4 out of 5. On the HOTWIRE link it also states that the 4 out of 5 rating was based off of 440+ reviews as of Sept 2008.I go to Tripadvisor and I click on Downtown Neighborhood and Sheraton Centre Toronoto is the only hotel with over 440 reviews. I am almost sure that this has to be the HOTEL and I am very excited. Am I jumping to conclusions? I mean no other hotel has that many reviews. What do you guys think?
slick_gd Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 The 4.5* looks to be the Inter-Continental West (on Front Street), and the 4* does looks to match the Sheraton Centre as you suspected. Some people have had some complaints with the IC on Front Street saying it was a little outdated and they had expected more from it. I personally have stayed at the Sheraton Centre just a couple months ago and thought it was an excellent hotel. The rooms are modern and clean, the hotel is big, with a very large heated pool and hot tub. It's a massive hotel so it can get pretty busy, I personally like that, but others have noted that it's a downfall. It all depends on what you like.As for location, depending on what you are in Toronto for, I would say the Sheraton is definitely the better bet. It is pretty much in the centre of downtown, shopping, bars, nightlife, restaurants, attractions, are all very close.Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
SgtofMarines Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Thank you slick, I did click on the HOTWIRE link in your post and I am about to take a look at it again to see if everything matches up. I'm crossing my fingers :) If anything, if Trip adviser rates it a 4* I'm sure its still a good deal. I will post results later
