Priceline Hotel: Price Line - Las Vegas - Question

Hi,

New to this board and new to Priceline. I plan to try it out (thru the links on this board of course). I was thinking of trying to get a 5 star on the strip. It seems that the only way to be sure it will be on the strip is to go with South Strip because THEhotel is the only one there.

However, I went to priceline and rather than naming my own price, I just looked for 5 star rates in Vegas. It only returned the Venetian, Palazzo, and Trump. Does this mean that they don't have any rooms available at THEHotel for my dates? I really don't want to end up in Trump off the strip.

I am hoping to spend less than $350 total for the dates of Oct 16 and 17 (checking out the 18th). I have seen people get weekend stays on this board at THEhotel for 165-170 a night.

I was planning on getting an Excalibur newly remodeled Widescreen room for around $260 (total for the 2 nights) when I decided to look into Priceline and therefore betterbidding.com.

If I'm out of luck on THEhotel, is there any special criteria that you can enter to guarantee a really good hotel on the strip. For example, does a 4* on the North / South Strip area guarantee that it will be on the strip or are there some 4* off the strip but still in the area? Also, how much you start bidding for a Thursday/Friday 4* on the strip.

Thanks a lot!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

No guarantees here either, as the lists only contain hotels reported to the board... you could be the first to win a 5* hotel in the South Strip zone which is slightly off teh strip. I don't know any which may qualify, but it's possible.
Does this mean that they don't have any rooms available at THEHotel for my dates?
The "retail" version of PRICELINE and the "name your own price" each use different database of hotels... see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ for further info.

If you're looking to target, or avoid, a specific property than HOTWIRE may be a better option for this stay. It will often cost you a little more, but given the star rating and amenity combination you can often take an educated guess as to what the hotel is (or at least determine what it is not... for example if HOTWIRE showns a Casino icon then you know it's not the Trump since they don't offer a casino)

Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly.

Thanks in advance for using our PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links (and also note, as per our support page, we're an affiliate of the Excalibur so please use link if you go that route as well)
