Andre C. Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 Hello.3* South Strip Hotel for 2 nights (Oct. 24-25, 2008). Price is $89/night (which seems very decent for the weekend).Amenities include: Casino, Fitness, Pool, Restaurant, Golf Nearby, Tennis Nearby, Spa Services.I'm just hoping it's not the Luxor.Any help? Thanks.

Andre C. Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 Thanks for the help. After realizing I will probably get stuck with an older/outdated room at The Excalibur, I'm not quite sure if I will bid. Going to look around for something else that weekend. I did use the Priceline and Hotwire Calendar of Wins new board feature, and saw someone won at TheHotel for these nights at a great rate through PRICELINE.Any other suggestions?
thereuare Posted September 24, 2008 Report Posted September 24, 2008 What is the rate for THEhotel? Are you willing to bid that high for a 5* property? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Andre C. Posted September 24, 2008 Author Report Posted September 24, 2008 What is the rate for THEhotel? Are you willing to bid that high for a 5* property?Yes I am, for that quality of a room(have you seen the rooms?Wow!). But, I already tried, and my bid of $165 was rejected.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 I assume you're looking at this Las Vegas THEhotel thread which is for FOUR NITES while your stay above is for just one of those nites (and it's one of the weekend nites, which is more expensive than the weeknites)How high did you bid? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Andre C. Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 I just matched the bid. I thought I had read it was the Fri/Sat nights though, same as mine. Guess I was wrong.
thereuare Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 So what is your gameplan from here? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Andre C. Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 Definitely still need a room. Willing to stay anywhere off Strip as well since I won a rental car on Priceline.com yesterday. Open to suggestions :)
Andre C. Posted September 25, 2008 Author Report Posted September 25, 2008 Have you ever seen anybody win the Rio on a Saturday night?
thereuare Posted September 25, 2008 Report Posted September 25, 2008 Yes, but more importantly, for your particular dates you won't know unless you try :) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Andre C. Posted September 26, 2008 Author Report Posted September 26, 2008 Tried....failed.They are just asking too much for the Saturday night. After reading reviews as well, I don't want to get stuck with one of their outdated rooms either, so I booked direct through the hotel on the Friday night. Again, will have a rental car (which I got through a link on this website), so changing hotels for Saturday is not a big issue. Just Saturday now.....
thereuare Posted September 26, 2008 Report Posted September 26, 2008 What did you book direct... the Excalibur or the Rio? (what was the rate)What are the parameters you're now looking for regarding the Saturday nite stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Andre C. Posted September 27, 2008 Author Report Posted September 27, 2008 I booked the Rio premium view suite for $155/night for the Friday night.Would be looking to pay similar for the Saturday night 10/25. (let's say $130-$180 range).
thereuare Posted September 27, 2008 Report Posted September 27, 2008 What is the minimum star rating and which zone(s) are you willing to accept for the Saturday nite? Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
Andre C. Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 What is the minimum star rating and which zone(s) are you willing to accept for the Saturday nite?I would accept 3* in either South Strip, Central Strip, West of Strip. Trying to avoid the Excalibur, and the Luxor.
thereuare Posted September 29, 2008 Report Posted September 29, 2008 Since there are a handful of hotels you're trying to avoid, would you be interested in the Monte Carlo for $180 or the MGM Grand for $195?The Monte Carlo seems to be within your budget (although at the upper limit), a good location on the strip, and also higher than the star rating you're seeking... would this be worthwhile to you or would you prefer to try bidding for a 3* hotel? Andre C. Posted September 29, 2008 Author Report Posted September 29, 2008 In the past 24 hours things got a little more complicated, as friends of ours are now meeting us on the Saturday night. They want to share a room somewhere. Now, it's probably not possible to bid on suites unless we book an all suite hotel, right? I'm wondering if I should wait until last minute to book? Also, Priceline does not guarantee double beds, correct? So I will be limited to Hotwire for hotel selection. Thanks for all your help.

Andre C. Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 I just thought maybe I would get a last minute deal for the Saturday night?I find many of the hotels seem over-priced as compared to the past few years I have been travelling to Vegas. With the prices of gas, and the hit the economy is taking, I don't really understand why prices have nearly doubled in certain hotels since last year. They can't all be full? Or even close to full? Anyways....I'm happy with the hotels I am staying in, but am curious as to why prices have sky-rocketed.
Andre C. Posted September 30, 2008 Author Report Posted September 30, 2008 Just booked a studio room at the Palms Place direct through their website. $249/night for Saturday the 25th of October. No longer looking for a room. Thanks for all the help.
