gc0225 Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 I've been trying to get a hotel set up in Niagara Falls, ON for about a month now and I keep getting denied. Im basically looking for a 4* close to the falls, fortunately the only 4* hotels available are by the falls so I can keep changing my location while still only falling into the range near the falls. The median is listed as $142 and even if I list $130 I get denied. I dont really understand why, is it still too early? Im looking to go Oct 17-19. Also, if I were to get a room, can I check in at any time that day (within the normal check in time for that particular hotel, or can I only check in after 11pm?)Thanks,Gabe
slick_gd Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 How many rooms and for how many guests are you looking for? Also, what was your bidding process?I'm noticing a 4* on HOTWIRE based on 1 room and 2 guests, which matches the Sheraton Fallsview. Amenities include:Smoke-freeRestaurantPoolFitnessBusinessInternet4 out 5 tripadvisor traveler review ratingAnd you can check-in at any time during the day like any other reservation.
gc0225 Posted September 22, 2008 Author Report Posted September 22, 2008 I am going 2 person, 1 room. I have been choosing 4* and the region of Niagara I want, then my price. It denies me and tells me to retry changing some of my preferences like star rating or location, I add a new location that has no 4* hotels in it (which would be al of the other choices) and increase my price by 5-10 dollars. Is this the right way?
slick_gd Posted September 22, 2008 Report Posted September 22, 2008 You're doing it correctly. It may be that there just aren't any hotels available for those nights, which is very odd.Have you considered going the HOTWIRE route? The 4* hotel that looks to be the Sheraton Fallsview is going for $119/night.
thereuare Posted September 23, 2008 Report Posted September 23, 2008 Why not take the HOTWIRE offer? It's less than you have already bid, and assuming it is the Sheraton Fallsview (which is my best guess as well) it's well rated. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. gc0225 Posted October 2, 2008 Author Report Posted October 2, 2008 So if I purchase from Hotwire and get the insurance, then realize that I dont want the hotel that it reveals, can I cancel right away?? Are they strict? Do I have to become deathly ill?
thereuare Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 Read the terms of the insurance... it doesn't cover "i changed my mind" or "i didn't like the hotel received".Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. slick_gd Posted October 3, 2008 Report Posted October 3, 2008 If you are debating which route you want to take (either PRICELINE or HOTWIRE), keep in mind that PRICELINE has the same policy as HOTWIRE in not allowing cancellations or refunds if you don't like the hotel you have won.If they allowed you to cancel the hotel right after you booked it then there is no incentive for the hotels to offer deeply discounted rates. You give up flexibility for a good price. If anything HOTWIRE would be the better route because at least you have a good idea of which hotel it might be. PRICELINE is completely a shot in the dark.
gc0225 Posted October 7, 2008 Author Report Posted October 7, 2008 Well I apparently missed out on the 4* since it is no longer listed on hotwire, any idea what the 3.5 would be that only shows a restaurant as the amenity on Oct 17-19? Sorry to be such a pain
thereuare Posted October 8, 2008 Report Posted October 8, 2008 The 3.5* is a match for the Ramada Plaza Fallsview so that would be our best guess. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Let us know how it goes or if we can be of further help. gc0225 Posted October 10, 2008 Author Report Posted October 10, 2008 Wow!! You guys have been such a great help to me in my vacation planning! I have just one more favor to ask, a new 4* has shown up on hotwire for Niagara Falls, I really want a 4* hotel, it is a very important weekend for me. The amenities are:Fitness CenterPoolRestaurantBusiness CenterInternetThe previous 4* listed was for the Sheraton as you told me, this one doesnt list no smoking though, so I assume it is a different hotel. If you can help me out with this, it would be greatly appreciatedGabe
slick_gd Posted October 11, 2008 Report Posted October 11, 2008 That particular combination has been seen with a number of hotels at various times, including:DoubleTree Resort and Spa (although more recently it has been shown with more amenities, but has shown this particular set in the past)Sheraton Fallsview (has been seen with and without smoke free icon)Hilton Niagara - this is also a possibilityHOTWIRE doesn't list a tripadvisor rating so it is hard to narrow it down further. They is an off chance it could be a totally different hotel, but it's very likely it is one of these. All good options in my opinion.Use this HOTWIRE link to start your purchase and let the board know the result.
gc0225 Posted October 13, 2008 Author Report Posted October 13, 2008 I booked my stay at the Hilton Niagara Falls from Oct 17-19 for only $119 per night on HOTWIRE.com thanks to the great help from everyone here at betterbidding.comThanks again!!!
