addtrav Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Hi there,First time using your forum, it's great! I was hoping to get some help with a last minute booking. I tried priceline biddingNMA 90, 95, 100$ by adding re-bid zones with no luck Sept 18-21.Am I too close to the dates to get a good deal? Any other suggestions for bidding? We could also add the Loop but I was hoping to get NMA. Our max is 120$ (Currently have a hotel booked in the Loop for 170$)Thanks!
thereuare Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! What is the minimum star level you're selecting? Did you want to go up to your maximum $120 bid before including the Loop zone? Would you rather try lowering your star level for a hotel in the NMA zone or would you prefer a higher rated property in the Loop zone? What is your back-up hotel? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. addtrav Posted September 16, 2008 Author Report Posted September 16, 2008 I was trying 4 star level. I think I would like to stick to that. I am basing my NMA area preference on some of the recommendations on your website - I have not been to Chicago before. I am happy to stay in the Loop as well for a decent price. The hotel my friend reserved a couple of weeks ago is the Inn of Chicago. Thanks for your help.
thereuare Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 If you enjoy walking you could walk from the Loop zone to the NMA zone... otherwise you can hop on the bus up Michigan Ave or take a very short cab ride. As AaronJB often describes it, the NMA zone is more lively and has more restaurants in the immediate area, while the Loop zone gets a bit quiet after business hours... so while the Loop may be less desirable for those looking to "go out on the town", but can still be a viable alternative if a deal can be had and value is important. Also, the Inn of Chicago is rated anywhere from 2*-3*, so if you really want a 4* hotel and to be in the NMA zone, woudln't it be worthwhile to incrase your bid from the $120 rate of your back-up since your back-up is neither a 4* hotel nor in your prefered zone... so it would seem that for the same/similar price you could potentially increase your star quality and have a 'better' location.Your thoughts? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. addtrav Posted September 16, 2008 Author Report Posted September 16, 2008 I didn't realize it's rated so low - my friend booked it. I will try to bid again today and increase my minimum, but I am worried about the time running out since we arrive in two days. Any thoughts on that? Thanks again for all your help!

addtrav Posted September 17, 2008 Author Report Posted September 17, 2008 Zones include NMA and LoopMax bid 150$I would also go down to 3 star level.Dates Sept 18-21 Could you suggest a strategy?thank you!
thereuare Posted September 17, 2008 Report Posted September 17, 2008 From your comments above it sounds as if you'd prefer to try up to your limit for a 4* hotel first and then, if rejected, try for a 3* property (rather than looking for the least expensive 3* or better hotel for these dates). If this is not correct please clarify and we'll revise, otherwise i would try as follows:At the 4* level you have THREE re-bid zones. If you're not familiar with re-bidding please read Priceline Re-Bidding Explained and feel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding.(NOTE: 're-bid zone1' is not the same as priceline's Zone1, 're-bid zone2' is not the same as priceline's Zone2, etc, etc)Select 4* NMA...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Loop...Bid $85, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $95, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $105, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* NMA and re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Loop and re-bid zone3...Bid $110, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $115, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $120, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* NMA and Loop...Bid $125, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $130, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $135, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* NMA and Loop and re-bid zone3...Bid $140, if rejected add re-bid zone1...Bid $145, if rejected add re-bid zone2...Bid $150Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
