vashonguy Posted September 15, 2008 Report Posted September 15, 2008 I was shopping for a hotel room for a relative, someone who wouldn't want to wait until the last minute for a better price. I tried for 4* and boutique hotels in USE and USW and surrounding areas at bids from $120 to $170, without success. It turns out that her dates were at a bad time for San Francisco, as the American College of Surgeons will be in town, taking up 6500 hotel rooms. Rates on Hotwire did not look encouraging in the downtown area for these dates. So I switched to Fisherman's Wharf area, where there are only 3* hotels. My accepted bid of $150 was my first try there. In hindsight, I perhaps should have started lower, but I was a bit tired of all the rejections. My bid of $150 was $20 below what Hotwire was offering for the same area. This is not my first use of Priceline, but it is my first use of the Better Bidding site. I appreciate all the information from all you contributors.
