Hotwire Hotel: Bidding Help: Main Strip Oct 8 to Oct 10

We're already booked at the Flamingo for 2008-10-08 to 2008-10-10 @ $60/night through hotel special.

We would like something better, if possible, but no worse than, say Planet Hollywood. A good pool is a must. Ideally, we would like the Rio.

I bid 5 star at $50 night, knowing it would get rejected and it did but no counter came back.

Is this normal?

sorry for the bump to an old thread but i am now once again back to check priced. I never did get counter offer. i entered 50 hoping to get a counter for 55 or anything less than 60/night. so the point was to get lower than the 60 i got through the hotel.
