I just got this hotel. This was my first time using the rebid strategy. I started at $140 for 4* in zones 2, 5, 8, 9, 10 and went up in increments of $5.

Glad to hear of your success and the the re-bid strategy (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) was helpful.

Coming from the South, if you don't enjoy driving you can park at the Menlo Park Park N Ride and take the train into the city (last i checked parking was $5/day but it may have gone up a little since then). The North Bergen Park N Ride is an option as well, but i've been told it's not recommended for overnite parking as the cops come routinely and if they think the car is abandoned they'll have it towed (and i was told 'officially' overnite parking is not supported (nor was it recommended))

There are also very low cost providers who provide express bus service between Washington DC and NYC (as low as $1 each way... most dont' top $15/each way)... if you don't mind bus travel.
