Greygooser Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 Hello All-Been lurking around the site. Really great success stories, hope I can become one of them.I'm going to London March 15-20 2009 with my girlfriend, and am looking to score a deal on a 3*. I have no problem splitting my stay, it would add variety to the trip. It's really about getting a decent hotel for as cheap as possible. I'm hoping to keep the bid under $75 per night. I have tons of time to book, but the flight is all set so I want to start as early as possible (if that's the best strategy).Zones (In no particular order)1- Bloomsbury - Marble Arch2- Finsbury and Islington6- Mayfair-Soho10- WestminsterMax bid = $75/nightThese are just zones I picked based on reading some other BB London threads, and looking at the Priceline map. Other suggestions are welcome. Both my SO and myself have never been to London, so we are open to suggestion as to where to stay. Thanks for entertaining a newb :)
thereuare Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! Are you sure a 3* will meet your needs? There is a pretty big difference in star rating between US and Europe and if you'd like a better shot at "something decent" you may want to consider setting your minimum star rating at a 4* hotel... but it's your stay so let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. TamCaP Posted September 13, 2008 Report Posted September 13, 2008 Unfortunately, also the difference (price) on PL between 3* and 4* might not be that large. And I managed to get a decent 4* for $80 already, having some $65-70 bids for 3* rejected... see my point? :-)
Greygooser Posted September 16, 2008 Author Report Posted September 16, 2008 I'm certainly not against a 4*, that's for sure. If there isn't much of a difference, then 4* is fine. I just want a decent place. I've stayed at my share of fleabag motels in my days, so as long as it's not a dump it won't bother me too much. But as I said, if the difference is minute, I'd be willing to go with a 4* for a little more $$. $80-$85 a night is probably my tops.
thereuare Posted September 16, 2008 Report Posted September 16, 2008 There are no 4* hotels available at the 4* level so i would proceed as follows:Select 4* Bloomsbury and Finsbury...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Mayfair and Westminster...Bid $60, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Bloomsbury and Mayfair...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Finsbury and Westminster...Bid $65, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Bloomsbury and Westminster...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Mayfair and Finsbury...Bid $70, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access PRICELINESelect 4* Bloomsbury and Finsbury...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Mayfair and Westminster...Bid $75, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Finsbury Westminster...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Finsbury Mayfair...Bid $80, if rejected close browser and use our link to re-access pricelineSelect 4* Bloomsbury and Finsbury and Mayfair and Westminster...Bid $85.Any questions feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Good luck and let us know how it goes.
