lilycae Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I am bringing my family to NYC on Saturday the 13th and leaving the 15th. We will be driving - I would like a hotel near times square/ midtown preferably east side. I read I should use Hotwire, not priceline.any tips on how to do this? I have a backup hotel (Helmsley Middletowne) at $330 - trying to do better at around $200.thanks1
thereuare Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! It was probably recommending you use HOTWIRE over PRICELINE since priceline only guarantees double occupancy while HOTWIRE allows you to search for up to quad occupancy. How many adults/children will you need occupancy for? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.EDIT: i now see your topic title mentions family of 5... is your back-up at the Helmsley Middletowne designated for five people?? OR are you comfortable booking a room designated for four people and having five occupants Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
lilycae Posted September 9, 2008 Author Report Posted September 9, 2008 We have two adults, 3 kids, but I am reserving for 2 kids since most hotels won't show rooms for 3, and they all will sleep on one bed anyway!Yes, the Helmsley has two queens in the room. I was hoping to do better pricewise, though.thanks for any help you can give me.
thereuare Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 There's always some risk involved when you are booking for fewer occupants than you actually have, but when searching HOTWIRE for double occupancy what appears to be the Embassy Suites Downtown is available for $210/nite... a King bed and a sleeper sofa in the room, plus a bit more extra space than you would get from a 'standard' NYC hotel room; although it is located downtown.Would this be of interest? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
