PNY Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 I've tried bidding and have gone up to $155 but still getting rejected. Any help please?
thereuare Posted September 9, 2008 Report Posted September 9, 2008 As previously requested, please add the dates of your stay to your Priceline Chicago thread and also follow-up your Priceline Las Vegas thread with whatever you ended up doing for that stay... then bump this thread and we'll have a look at the above. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. PNY Posted September 10, 2008 Author Report Posted September 10, 2008 Done and done!Anyway, as mentioned, I went to use PL to bid on a 5* hotel on the north strip (*hopefully* to get the venetian....) but got rejected at $155... I see that the price on PL ranges from $250 to a median of $346. Help!
thereuare Posted September 10, 2008 Report Posted September 10, 2008 If you were to receive the Venetian i think it will take closer to $200+ to be successful for these dates. However, note that the majority of users have been receiving the Trump International... would this be an acceptable result? If you want to continue bidding, what is your maximum bid for this stay? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. PNY Posted September 11, 2008 Author Report Posted September 11, 2008 Thanks for the reply! For me, the Venetian would be the best choice since the majority of our group is staying here (I read somewhere that the Trump is a bit of a walk to the Venetian)Is there a way to "avoid" the getting the Trump?I think for the Venetian, I definitely dont want to go over $200/night.
thereuare Posted September 11, 2008 Report Posted September 11, 2008 With PRICELINE you can receive any hotel in the zone at the minimum star level that you bid. If you're trying to target, or avoid, a particular hotel then HOTWIRE may be a better option as you can often identify the hotel being offered before your purchase based upon the amenities that HOTWIRE associates with the property being offered.Let us know how you'd like to proceed and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. PNY Posted September 12, 2008 Author Report Posted September 12, 2008 I would definitely like to target a certain property at the 5* rating. Looking at the HOTWIRE link you provided, I see that the "casino" icon is missing from the 5* property that HOTWIRE is offering, so I'm safe to assume that they are offering the TRUMP (which is the hotel I want to avoid). How do I make sure that I am able to "pick" the Venetian?
thereuare Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 How do I make sure that I am able to "pick" the Venetian? You can't... you'll need to book thru a non-opaque source. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
dechass Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 FYIon the venetian website, these nights can be booked for $259,this is the lowest these nights have been for weeks, as i've been keeping an eye, and have booked them myself.(to go with the 3 nights (5th - 8th) i booked through priceline).I realise this may be more than you wanted to pay, but if you definately want the venetian, you may have to pay. Weekends are more expensive.Treasure Island (although 4*, but is very close to the Venetian (is that correct thereuare?), you could target it through priceline...anyone any views on TI? or other good hotels close to the Ventian?.....Please note/remember that, as per the support page, we're an affiliate of Treasure Island (as well as all the other MGM Grand owned properties)Good luck.
thereuare Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 Yes, Treasure Island and the Venetian are across the street from each other, as is The Mirage. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
i_love_las_vegas Posted September 12, 2008 Report Posted September 12, 2008 i like TI but the pool is very small - so if you are a pool person - I would avoid it and try the Mirage if you want to be in that area....Mirage is next door to TI and across the street from Venetian
PNY Posted September 13, 2008 Author Report Posted September 13, 2008 Yes, Treasure Island and the Venetian are across the street from each other, as is The Mirage.I am definitely open to TI or the Mirage just to save some cash on my hotels stay, and to be closer to the group. How should I proceed?
thereuare Posted September 14, 2008 Report Posted September 14, 2008 What is your maximum bid at the 4* level? While the Treasure Island has been the only 4* hotel reported in the North Strip zone, are you willing to accept any 4* hotel in this zone... as there others properties in this zone that could easily be rated 4 star as well. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. PNY Posted September 19, 2008 Author Report Posted September 19, 2008 Thanks for all your replies everyone! We were too chicken to bid on a hotel for fear of either being too far from our friends (if we were to choose a different zone) or ending up with a property we didnt want :) We ended up just making plain ol' reservations at the Palazzo for Oct 2 - 5. It was cheaper than the Venetian for the same days and most importantly we're just a walk-through-a-tunnel-away from our group!
