LornaC Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 I'm new to all of this and am a touch overwhelmed by it all! I would like some guidance on the best strategy for bidding (on PL) on 4 star accommodation on the N Michigan Ave/River North area, arriving on 13 Nov - checking out 17 Nov (4 nights). I understand that this could be a little complicated :) but would especially like some guidance as to the best time to start making bids. Many thanks in advance for any help you can give me!
slick_gd Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 It is strongly recommended that you read the following topics to get yourself up to speed on how PRICELINE works before you make a bid.Re-bidding before 24hoursThis will explain the bidding / re-bidding process and give you an idea of how to maximize your bidding. Please read and understand.Should I bid Early or LateThere is no general consensus on whether it's better to bid earlier or later as hotel rooms can be added or taken away at any time, and the prices can change at any time. Hotels will continually adjust how many rooms they put up for sale on PRICELINE depending on their occupancy. One this is for certain though...Do not bid until your plans are confirmed. PRICELINE rooms are non-refundable and charged to your card once it has been booked. It's always better to understand exactly how PRICELINE works so that you don't erroneously bid and end up with a hotel in a location you did not want.If you need more clarification just let us know and we'll help steer you in the right direction.
thereuare Posted September 8, 2008 Report Posted September 8, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! In addition to the information and links above...Is the NMA zone the only one you're willing to accept? The Loop zone may be a little less convenient (but still generally fine for the average vistior) and sometimes offers some excellent value... enough savings that can easily be used for a few cab rides up Michigan Ave if you don't feel like walking or taking the bus (and still come out ahead of purchasing a hotel in the NMA zone). Not saying that this works for everyone, but mentioning in case budget is important. What is your maximum bid (per nite before fees and taxes) for this stay?Once you're ready to bid let us know the above and we'll advise accordingly. Of course if there are any other questions between now and then feel free to ask. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
