riandei Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Hi I have never used priceline or hotwire but I am in kind of a jam. My husband and I extended a brithday gift to a friend for a night at the heartbreak hotel and entrance to Graceland. (purchase price 200.00)Heres my problem ... The reviews I have read regarding the heartbreak hotlel are well ... heartbreaking ... so I have canceled my reservation there and now need a hotel in the area. I need to be around 150.00 as I will still need to purchase tickets to graceland for 60 bucks for her and her husband ... I am trying to keep my total costs at the 200.00 rangeI would love to stay at the westin beale street or the peabody.can anyone help me bid ...when I bring up PRICELINE ... it ONLY lists one 4 star hotel with a price of 219 (which is on the westin's website) ...is it safe to assume if I bid 150, and 4 stars ... I would get the westin if my bid is accepted ?any info would be fantatic ... travel is oct 16 to oct 17thanks
thereuare Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!when I bring up PRICELINE ... it ONLY lists one 4 star hotel with a price of 219 (which is on the westin's website) ...is it safe to assume if I bid 150, and 4 stars ... I would get the westin if my bid is accepted ?No, the 'retail' product and the 'name your own' price product use a different pool of hotels. There is a LOT of overlap, but not all properties that participate in the 'retail' product also participate in the 'opaque' product and vice versa. For more on this see the related link in our PRICELINE FAQ.I will add that the Westin is currently the only 4* property reported to the board in the Downtown Memphis zone (as per the Priceline Hotel List) but as this area is not widely bid i would hardly consider this to be the only potential outcome. If you'd like to proceed let us know your maximum bid (is it $150 before fees and taxes) and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
