Steve Sharp Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 I live an hour away, and need to be in Burbank Friday night (tommorrow), and then again Saturday night. I placed a bid of $40 (plus fees) on a 3-star (which was highlit as "best value") for tommorrow night. It was rejected, requesting that I increase my bid $12. I tried to increase it only $10 (to $50), but was refused, unless I altered other parts of my request. So, I upped my bid to $50, and lowered my star level to 2 1/2, and was accepted, even though it was less of an increase than was requested, and the Marriott Burbank Airport is a 3*.Room: $50.00fees: $13.41total: $63.41, plus the knowledge that it'll cost me $9 for parking (which I learned from this site. Thank you!)I will travel home late Saturday night, but was very tempted to grab a 2nd night at this rate, and just go home Sunday, instead. How popular is the "book more nights at this rate" option?
thereuare Posted September 5, 2008 Report Posted September 5, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!Congratulations on your win and thank you for sharing your win with the board. If you're going to try to undercut the counter-offer you need to use a re-bid zone (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) to do it (if you're new to re-bidding make sure you understand it fully and confirm your re-bid zones with th board before proceeding)The "add a nite feature" has been quite useful and lots of users take advantage of it. However, do note that just because offered doesn't mean that you'll have success if you attempt it... sometimes PRICELINE will come back and let you know that there is no availability or offer you a room for the extra nite at a higher rate. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay. Steve Sharp Posted September 8, 2008 Author Report Posted September 8, 2008 The parking rate is now $14 at this property.I just found that out, the hard way. It's pretty lame, since it's only $9 for airport parking, sometimes in the same lot. I would have posted this while on my stay, but internet is an additional $10 there, too.Hotel review:A very nice property, with great amenities, but as of this weekend, it's under LOTS of construction. The amount of construction being done makes it almost surprising to me that the hotel is still open during it. Be aware of this, if you may wind up booking there. The staff was exemplary, though. I asked for a late checkout, and was able to get a 2 p.m., with no problem. I updated a work document in my room, and saved it to pdf. The business center computers are very limited in what you can do, and I needed prints from my pdf file. The front desk staff allowed me to print from their computers, at the front desk. The clerk offered me her chair.
