ProfT Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Brilliant boards!I will be in NYC Nov 8-11. I would prefer, in order, MTE, MTW, TS, CPS. I would love that sweet, sweet 5* Waldorf Towers in MTE firstly for max of $400. Am I dreaming?Barring that, I am hoping for 4* in the aforementioned areas for max $300 (tax inclusive). MTE is my top choice in location but can swing the others since so close.I am sitting on the idea of reserving the Grand Hyatt for $440 (excl tax) from their website, but I've been advised that seems high. But everything seems high in my time frame!Strategy suggestions welcome! I am ready to bid! Cheers!
thereuare Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! There is currently no more 5* bidding offered in the MTE zone (nor in NYC for that matter) so your chances of the Waldorff Towers seems nil.In regards to your 4* bidding, what is your maximum bid before taxes and fees? (~$255??)Did you want to bid up to your maximum for the MTE zone first OR is what you're really interested in the least expensive 4* or better in any of the four acceptable zones? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. ProfT Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 Thanks for the response! I think my maximum bid before taxes and fees would be about $265.And, yes, I would prefer to bid up to my max for MTE first and if that doeswn't work, expand to other areas.

ProfT Posted September 6, 2008 Author Report Posted September 6, 2008 I am clearly not cut out for priceline as i said i wanted to pay a max $265 excl taxes... well, i sed the strategy posted (which was very helpful - thank you!) and got up to $300 and nothing. So I bid in $10 more increments and got the Omni Berkshire for $350 excl taxes. This hotel wasn't even on my radar, but it looks nice on the website and the best available rate on the Omni site was $449. Since the hotel I did want, the Grand Hyatt, was $442 on their website, I saved myself over $90 a night from what I was willing to pay - that's extra shopping money! Now praying the Omni is nice! Thanks for all the help!
thereuare Posted September 6, 2008 Report Posted September 6, 2008 Congratulations on your success!I'm sure you can put the extra $90 savings (nearly $300 over the course of your 3 nites!!) to good use :) Glad to see that you're happy with the results and that the board was helpful in your purchase. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.Enjoy your stay.PS- this hotel is also located near Ess-A-Bagel (Third Ave at 51st St) which has one of the best bagels in the city and makes for a nice, inexpensive, breakfast... give it a try one morning of your trip Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
