stephenbush Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Thereuare,I'm looking for a 4* hotel in MTE for one night in a few weeks, Thurs 9/18 to Fri 9/19. Could I use the bidding strategy you outlined for justin36 in the "4* Midtown" thread to find a MTE hotel for that night? Or should I adjust the price ranges a bit for these dates?I absolutely need a place to stay that night, so I have no max price. I'd just like to pay as low as possible for a 4* in MTE.Could you also confirm the six re-bidding zones that justin35 listed? Thanks,Stephen
thereuare Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! To begin... is MTE the only zone you're willing to accept? In NYC the zones are fairly compact, and close together, that most midtown locations will work well for the typically visitor. Including more zones increases the number of hotels that could accept your bid and therefore increases your chances of getting a deal accepted sooner (at a lower price)Regarding your re-bid zones, re-bidding is explained here: Priceline Re-Bidding Explained. Please read this thread and freel free to ask questions and/or confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceed (at the 4* level you have SIX re-bid zones). If you read the above link and are confused and/or can't figure out how to get started then post back and we'll break it down for your step-by-step, but you need to know how to determine your re-bid zones yourself as they need to be doublechecked before every bidding cycle. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. stephenbush Posted September 4, 2008 Author Report Posted September 4, 2008 I would be willing to accept a 4* in Midtown West or Times Square as well.Pretty sure I'm familiar with re-bid zones as I've done this sort of thing before (in Texas), but would you verify the six zones for New York City for me?Thanks.
thereuare Posted September 4, 2008 Report Posted September 4, 2008 would you verify the six zones for New York City for me?We'll confirm them for you, but you really need to know how to check them yourself, as they need to be checked before every bidding cycle. If we simply listed them here, tomorrow they could change, and then you could end up in an area you didn't intend. Please read the Priceline Re-Bidding Explained link and ask questions if you're confused OR post your six re-bid zones and we'll confirm that you have them correct. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. stephenbush Posted September 5, 2008 Author Report Posted September 5, 2008 Like I said before, I am familiar with re-bid zones because I have used them before in different areas of the country. I know how to check them myself, and I am not confused about them. Please confirm these:Zone 1 - BrooklynZone 2 - ChelseaZone 3 - Long IslandZone 4 - MSGZone 5 - Upper East SideZone 6 - Upper East SideThanks again.
