Romelle Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Was this your first bid, or did you work up to the $100 gradually?Thank you,Romelle
nkyoung Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 It was my first bid. I just figured $100 was a good start.
Romelle Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 Thanks for your response.I'm working on a hotel for January 09. No luck so far, but will post when I eventually get something.Romelle
XT600 Posted November 25, 2008 Report Posted November 25, 2008 you know that you get the Marriott Lisbon for 75 EUR at otel dot com incl. 2 breakfast (double-room)?It seems that the $65 prices are last minute deals.... I tried it for 1 night 04/20/09 to 04/21/09 and $68 was rejected... so I will buy the room now at above otel.com, pay $25 more but will have 2 breakfasts included in the rate :) (breakfast is till 11 everyday, weekend till 11:30 which is important for us as we'll return to Germany at 14:10 from LIS airport)and best thing with above site is: you can cancel free of any charge up to 4 days before arrival, afterwards first night penalty only!!!Again a good example that in cheap big cities priceline doesn't always give you best rates esp. 5 month before :)
tenerifesharon Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 BTW -- breakfast at the Lisbon Marriott is excellent (or was about a year ago). IIRC, they had the most wonderful freshly pressed orange juice :) and lots of other goodies. You should know that the Marriott is quite a way out of the center of the city -- not within walking distance -- but good public transportation. A bus near the hotel entrance will take you to the metro station (right next to the zoo), and then it's a quick ride to the city center.

We only need it for 1 night comeing back from Madeira connecting to Munich the afternoon the next day... was thinking about going to the new Fenix Garden for similar price but actually we love the Marriot beds :)
Romelle Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 I was pleasantly surprised at how reasonable cab fare was in Lisbon. A smooth quick 4:30 AM ride to the airport from slightly south of downtown center was only 8 Euros, and I'm told day rates are even better. Romelle
XT600 Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 yes Romelle, correct but please remember as even gas and cars are cheaper in Portugal than in other parts of Europe the taxi drivers have very low income - rounding up the bill is essential :)
