aregma Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 I have been using the PRICELINE link from this board to try to bid on a 4* hotel from oct 3rd to oct 7th for 4* in downtown san diego. I have tried using the rebid technique almost daily for the last 2 weeks between $90 and $125. I see others have portions of my stay or with similar dates for under $100. Is there something special about going over the weekend? Do prices usually come down nearer to the date? Do you think it is unrealistic to keep trying between $90 and $125?Thanks in advance for any suggestions or help.
thereuare Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 The win i believe you're refering to is the Marriott Gaslamp Quarter for $90 for 10/3-10/5. If you search the Marriott website for these two dates at this property you'll see rates at $229/nite... add in the nites of 10/6 or 10/7 and you'll see rates jump to $330/nite. So if you're using this win as your basis for your maximum bid then i would suggest raising your bid somewhat. However, is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID an option? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. aregma Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 Thanks for the tip, I bought from oct 3rd to 5th for $100 a night. I bid $90 and $95 which both were rejected. I did use your PRICELINE link to win the bid. Thanks a lot!Now I'm considering if I should bid again for the last 2 nights or just book at a cheaper hotel.
