I must be one of the few poor soles who has only stumbled across priceline in the past few days and i cant wait to have my first win! We have already booked a 1br suite at the Eastgate Tower (MTE) through another supplier for the majority of our stay, but I am now looking for accomodation for the night we arrive (October 5th) and the night before we leave New York (October 13th). Our orignal plan was to stay out at an airport hotel (JFK), but having seen some of the prices hotels in the city are going for we thought we might as well skip the whole airport hotel scenario and get straight into the New York atmosphere.

So we are looking at the following areas: Preferably TS, with MTE, CPS, MSG and ESB as other areas we are more than happy to stay in.

We have a maximum budget of $250 per night. Is there any chance of getting a 4* in any of these areas for this price, or am I better off just going straight in for a 3*?

Im not certain at what price to start bidding at either? I dont want to be too cheeky by going in low, but dont want to miss a bargain either!

And finally, do I need to take a different approach for each of the two nights (given that sunday nights seem to be cheaper than mondays)?

Many thanks in advance!

Sorry for not waiting for advice! But Ive had SUCCESS!!!! I really cant believe it.

I figured since Im in the UK I might have been waiting a few more hours for some advice and thought Id use some similar strategies Ive seen for other posts. And they worked!

So I basically went down the path of selecting our date (October 5th only at this stage), TS area, 4* and I started at what I thought was a very low and cheeky price of $123, as expected declined. I then added a rebid area and bid $137, again declined. I then added another rebid area and bid $152 - Success!

So I have successfully secured the Hilton Times for 1 night at the rate of $152 plus taxes of32.66 making a total of $184.66

This seems like an absolute bargain to me since I havent seen anywhere offering under $300 for it. Plus we were originally planning to be staying at the aiport for a similar price...

Now on to my other date. Ill post results for it under a seperate topic.

Thanks so much for this forum and all the advice that can be found here!
