khollis Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I want to bid on a 4* hotel in Las Vegas. On Priceline, what hotels are on the South Strip and what hotels are one the north strip? I'll be arriving 10/8 and departing on 10/12. I can find pretty cheap prices just by going to any of the hotel's websites for Wed. and Thurs, 10/8 and 10/9. However, prices for Fri and Sat., 10/11 and 10/12 are pretty expensive. Any ideas on how I should bid on Priceline and for someone who has never been to Las Vegas....should I bid on North Strip or South Strip(all 4 nights or just the two weekend nights/)I'd appreciate any tips....also any ideas on shows to see?thanks
thereuare Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding! What are the hotels and rates you're finding for Wed and Thurs nites? Is SPLITTING YOUR PRICELINE BID and changing htoels during your stay something you're willing to consider? What is your maximum bid for this stay? What about if you are oly bidding for Friday and Saturday nite? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.PS- note that some of the hotels, while in the Strip zone, may actually be slightly off-strip, is this an acceptable outcome? khollis Posted August 28, 2008 Author Report Posted August 28, 2008 The MGM Grand is the hotel that I found for 10/8 and 10/9 for only $79 per night and that includes a $35 gaming credit. No I don't mind switching hotel. I'd like to stay in the main strip area...would that be the south strip? I don't want to pay more than around $120 per night...can I get a 4 star for that price?
thereuare Posted August 28, 2008 Report Posted August 28, 2008 The rate for the MGM Grand is very good and i would book that for the first two nites. I wasn't a fan of the hotel due to its size but had the opportunity to stay there a few months back as the deal was too good to pass up, and i was 'won over' and have no problem recommending the hotel. If you do book, please use this MGM Grand link to begin your reservation. Both North and South Strip are pretty 'central', although they extend further than the 'main' part of the strip. If you keep your star rating at 4* or above you should be near the main part of the strip, but once you start getting into the 3* and lower range in the North Strip you begin to add in some properties which are not as centrally located (and should likely be avoided)The chances of winning a 4* directly on the strip for $120 or less for the weekend dates (10/10-10/12) i think are low, although i think you have a chance of winning the Westin, which is in the South Strip zone although slightly off-strip. Would a hotel slightly off the strip be acceptable? (most find it walkable without a problem... although there is no casino and they also charge a 'resort' fee)Let us know your thoughts and we'll advise accordingly. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
