Priceline Hotel: question regarding bidding

I was just wondering if it's a good idea/bad idea to 'tag team with the bidding. My friend and I need to book a hotel for 1 night in Toronto between flights. He posted a bid (with his info), got rejected, and so then I put a bid in with my info (for $1 more), and got rejected. We've been taking turns increasing the bid by $1 each.

We're choosing Toronto airport 4*, started at 48, and have been rejected at 48,49,50,51,52,53,54,55,56, and 57. Is it a good idea to keep taking turns, going up by $1, until one of us finally wins the bid? We have time because the night we need to book is October 31st.

Any suggestions would be helpful!

Welcome to BetterBidding!

You can increase by $1 increments if you choose, but i think it loses sight of the big picture... if you're able to save ~$100 on a hotel room, does it really matter if you're savings $98 or $102? :)

From what you've indicated above, the bidding has probably taken 5 days already... what if on your first day a $57 bid would have been accepted but over the next few days that offered was pulled? (or the one room available at that rate was purchased by somebody else)... by the time you get there a week later that offer is gone and.

What if tomorrow when it's time for you to bid again a hotel becomes available at $50/nite, however, you won't be bidding that low since it appears your bids would start at $58 adn then $59.

I would determine what price you're willing to pay for a 4* hotel for your dates and then use re-bid zones (Priceline Re-Bidding Explained) in order to get there... all in one bidding cycle. In Toronto you have NINE re-bid zones, so there is little reason to have to bid as you have.

Please read the above link on re-bidding and feel free to ask any questions that you may have, but if you're new to the concept of re-bidding, it's strongly recommended you confirm your re-bid zones with the board before proceeding to ensure you dont' end up in an an area you don't intend.
