kiramoli Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Looking for a hotel in Paris, preferably 4* from Sep 18 to Sep22, 2008.Would like to get a hotel in CE-OQW.Here's what I have tried so far and I used the better bidding PRICELINE link.I read the posts and followed the advise on re-bidding.I posted several bids and went up to $151 (CW-OQW). at that point I got a counter offer for $320.Am I too low? what is the strategy that I should use?Trying to stay in the center of Paris. Thanks in advance
thereuare Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 Welcome (officially) to BetterBidding! With the price of the counter-offer i would say that you're likely very far off at the moment and your bids are too low (probably need to be in the mid-$200's to nearly $300/nite at the moment)HOTWIRE currently shows a 4* in the Champs Elysees-Trocadero zone for $294/nite... has a good TripAdvisor rating of 4.0/5.0 but is otherwise not yet identified. What is your current maximum bid? What is the best rate you're able to find for a 4* hotel in this zone? Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases. kiramoli Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 I wanted to be within $200 for a 4* star hotel that is centrally located, but it seems to be unrealistic expectations. I saw people getting a good deal between $150 and $170 for CE-OQW for 4* hotels, may be my timeframe makes a difference.I will do more research on a different zones that are close to the center, I think I may add OQE though don't know if 4* hotels that PRICELINE has are on the outskirts of the zone or close to the center.
kiramoli Posted September 3, 2009 Author Report Posted September 3, 2009 After bidding unsuccesfully I checked one of my credit cards that accumulated points. I was able to get Holiday Inn for those points and that's exactly what I did. Holiday Inn on place de la Republic was a bit off center, but it didn't cost me anything. Sorry for not updating my results sooner, I thought since I got nowhere there was nothing to write about.
thereuare Posted September 3, 2009 Report Posted September 3, 2009 Thanks for "closing" this thread with what you ulitmatley did for this stay (which is something to write about as it adds a resolution to this thread for future users :) ) Please use this HOTWIRE and these PRICELINE LINKS: HOTELS, CAR RENTALS, and AIRFARE to begin your travel purchases
