Omar Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Hello, I'm hoping someone with PL experience can help me out with a bidding strategy.I'm heading to NYC for the first time and I'm looking for a 4* room for two nights from Saturday, August 23rd through Monday, August 25th.Areas, in order of preference:Midtown WestCentral Park SouthMidtown EastTimes Square - Theatre DistrictI'd like to keep it under $250/night. The further under, the better! I don't know if that's at all realistic, so please tell me if it isn't :) In any case, I've got a room booked at at the Doubletree Metropolitan for $299/night for a 2 double bed room if nothing else pans out.
Omar Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 I read the FAQs and came up with a bidding plan. I'm happy with the results, which I'll post in a new thread :)
Omar Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Started at $180 with MTE, MTW and CPS. Kept adding re-bid zones and going up in $5 increments. At $205 it started giving me a counteroffer to add $25. I kept going in $5 increments and eventually and hit paydirt at $225.W New York Hotel Midtown East541 Lexington Avenue New York, New York 10022 212-755-1200Check-In Date:Sat, Aug 23, 2008 / After 03:00 PMCheck-Out Date:Mon, Aug 25, 2008 / 12:00 PM Your Offer Price Per Room, Per Night: $225.00 Subtotal: $450.00 Taxes & Service Fees: $83.08 Total Charges*: $533.08 Over the two nights that's $175 cheaper than the lowest price on the W's website and $152 cheaper than my backup hotel.
