tksc23 Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Hi,I am from Montreal and I will finally get to NY for first time, shame on me, I know~ :) It's a laborday weekend, I tried many options under 200$ to stay in NY island, I guess that's not possible especially I have to pay parking as well. One of my friend suggested me to live in NJ, I found few hotels very interesting, they are all parking included:1. $139Courtyard By Marriott Meadowland Lyndhurst 2 and half Star1 Polito AvenueLyndhurst, NJ 07071 2.$179Courtyard Meadowlands Secaucus 2 and half Star455 Harmon Meadow BlvdSecaucus, NJ 070943.$159 (2 nights get one night free... total 318$ for 3 nights :) )Sheraton Meadowlands Hotel & Conference Center2 Meadowlands PlazaEast Rutherford , NJ 07073I plan to go Yankees game, broadway, SoHo and of course statue of liberty...I post here in NY forum because I want to know which hotels is closiest and most convinient for me travel to NY? or I should keep trying my luck to get one in NY for 200$+? Under 200$ per night including parking is within my budget, so I just want a clean place that I don't have to waste my time whole day in bus and subway since I don't get to travel a lot... :oThank you, very appreciate it...
thereuare Posted August 21, 2008 Report Posted August 21, 2008 Welcome to BetterBidding!I don't think you're going to find any hotels in NYC for these dates at $200 or under which include parking. Both Courtyards above have bus service within walking distance of the hotel. The Lyndhurst property would use Bus #191, 192, or 195... the Secaucus Meadowlands property uses Bus #320.The Sheraton property isn't walkable to mass transit, but offers a shuttle service to the bus stop and the nearby train station. All the hotels above are within 2 miles of each other so the commute time is not going to differ by much.If you're interested in the Sheraton property you can probably pick that up via HOTWIRE a little cheaper than the above. (even with the free nite taken into account)If you end up booking direct please start your search/purchase with our BetterChecker.Let us know what you decide or if we can be of further help. tksc23 Posted August 22, 2008 Author Report Posted August 22, 2008 Thanks for the advices, I've done more research since yestaurday and found out I better off live in Jersey City and take PATH to NY.PRICELINE has listed $183 for Candlewood Suites Jersey City Exchange Place, I guess I can give it a try and bid for like under $150? What other hotels should I expecting if I bid for 2* in Jersey City? Thanks again~
thereuare Posted August 22, 2008 Report Posted August 22, 2008 All hotels reported to the board would be found in our Priceline Hotel List. While the Candlewood Suites is the only known hotel at the 2* level in this zone (there could be others not yet reported to the board), it is possible that the Holland Motor Lodge could be a possibility at the 2* level as well (i would hope not as the hotel has exterior corridors and not exactly the crowd i would want to be rooming next to, but the possibility is out there depending upon if they participate with HOTWIRE (no evidence that they do) and if so, what they choose to rate this property)The Courtyard is also available for your dates for $189 and i think that would be a slightly better choice than the Candlewood Suites, imo. The Courtyard was last won at the 2.5* level and not sure if you would want to try for this hotel first or try your luck at the 2.5* level. Let us know your thoughts and your maximum bid and we'll suggest a strategy for you to follow. Please use these PRICELINE and HOTWIRE links to begin your travel purchases.
