I'd start by reading our thoughts on Hotels Near Times Square as you really do not to be in Times Square to be centrally located... most midtown locations work fine for the average user.

If you still want 'central' and are willing to go just a bit higher, HOTWIRE has a 4* hotel in the MTC zone for $275/nite (Restaurant, Fitness, Hi-Speed Internet wit 3.5/5.0 Tripadvisor rating) which our best guess would be the Algonquin. This is an older hotel with a LOT of history, and assuming correct, would be centrally located at 44th St b/w 5th and 6th Avenue.

If you want to look further, what is your maximum bid?

As for the price i wanted to save as much as possible but $250ish. I'd be willing to go MTE MTW ESB MSG. The lower the price the better :)

If i could get it down to below $200 i'd also do Dt Soho & Finance

Before bidding...

Just to confirm, the 4 zones above (MTE, MTW, ESB, and MSG) are in addition to Times Square, correct? Is there a reason you're avoiding the CPS zone? I've used a strikeout over MSG as there are no 4* hotels in that zone.

Did you want to bo up to $250 for the midtown zones you've indicated and then start over including the Downtown-SoHo zone... or did you want to start with including the Downtown-Soho zone up until $200... then continue on without the Downtown zone?

Could anyone help identify the 3-star hotel in Times Square - Theatre District showing on Hotwire at the moment for $269

Featuring Boutique ,Complimentary Breakfast, Pool, Business Center, Spa Services

on the 25th and 26th August 08.

Have you changed the date(s) of your stay or have you made alternate plans for the nite of 8/24?

The HOTWIRE hotel above has not yet been reported to the board, but the Room-Mate Grace seems like a pretty good fit and that would be our best guess.
