DrummerDave Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I stayed at the Hyatt place in Aug 08.Overall I was pleased w/ the place, although it was an interesting stay.Location:The hotel is easy to find, and is right by the Opryland attractions. IF you're not staying for Opryland or the mall, then you'll be bored, as that's all that's in the area. It is also located across the street from a gocart track. So every couple minutes you get to hear "Start your engines!" and stuff over a loudspeaker. That was annoying, but w/ the TV turned up it was tolerable.RoomsI've seen a lot of mixed reviews about the hotel, some very bad. The room overall was nice, although it had some issues. The room was large, the bed was very comfy, the TV huge, and the couch too. The carpet did have some big stains. . . the designers should've known better than to put light colored carpet in a hotel. The bathroom was small, but clean. The bad is the AC unit seemed to be growing mold inside. .. I assume it was mold. . . either way, not too pleasant. BreakfastNot a big selection, as they want you to buy their cinammon rolls and stuff they have. It was comprised of bagels, toast, fresh fruit, cereal. Other Hotel notesThe Fire alarm went off at about 12:30am. False alarm. The front desk girl said that it happens a lot. The elevator is rickety, and makes a sound like Orca whales whenever it's going up or down. . . which echos through the concrete of the hotel. It's annoying. Somebody ought to fix that. We also had the privelege of hearing some extremely loud "honeymooners" who were like 7 rooms down from us. . and yes we could still hear her. A bunch of people apparently thought she was being murdered or was having a baby or something so they called security, and . .. anyway, that really has nothing to do w/ anything, but it was amusing (at 1am). :) Oh, and the pool is an outdoor pool, and it is not heated. No hot tub.
texhills Posted April 21, 2009 Report Posted April 21, 2009 Our experience couldn't have been more different. Perhaps there've been some renovations since this review was posted, but our room was very clean and modern without any of the problems mentioned. The bed was about the comfiest we've had in a hotel. The giant flat screen TV was great. The wet bar was a nice touch in a hotel room. The bathroom, while on the small side, was quite adequate. The breakfast serving area was a bit on the small side for a large hotel, however there were plenty of places to sit after we got our food. We went to the Opry and dined at Dave and Busters in the Opry Mills mall beforehand, so the location was perfect for us. Got the room for $49 + on Priceline for 4/07/09.
